Ethel Williams Rider, 94, Eldersburg, Md., was peacefully lifted to heaven in God’s embrace the early morning of October 14, 2021, in Port Charlotte, Fla., while travelling with her daughter, Darlene, and son-in-law Bernie. Before her time of rest she amazingly got to travel throughout 2021 visiting her loved ones across several states.

She was born in Big Cove Tannery March 1, 1927, the daughter of the late Enza (Wink) and Alvah R. Williams. She was the widow of Henry “Don” Rider.

She is survived by her daughter, Darlene A. Schreiner (Bernard), Eldersburg, Md.; a sister, Arietta Mellott, Unadeilla, N.Y.; grandchildren: Bernard A. Schreiner (Laurie), Martinsburg, W.Va.; Dawn R. Schreiner-Lilley (Joseph), Denver, Colo.; Kevin D. Schreiner (ToniAnn), Sparta, N.J.; Christopher A. Schreiner (Sara), Denver, Colo.; great-grandchildren: Austin D. Schreiner, Hannah R. Schreiner, Seth A. Lilley, Kevin (KJ) Schreiner Jr., Malia G. Schreiner and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Enza and Alvah Williams, Big Cove Tannery; a sister, Edna Mellott, Big Cove Tannery; Wahneeta Kuhn, McConnellsburg; brothers: Maurice Williams, Warfordsburg; Leroy Williams, Big Cove Tannery; Cecil Williams, McConnellsburg; an infant brother, Chalmer Williams; and a grandson-in-law, Shawn R. Lilley of Denver, Colo.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, January 22, at LifePoint Church, 1701 Emory Rd., Reisterstown, MD 21136 at 1 p.m. Donations may be made to The Alzheimer’s Asso. or American Heart Assoc.
