McConnellsburg water superintendent Gene Stenger, center, watches as Tim Myers of the Charles E. Brake Co. Inc. on Tuesday excavates the alley just west of South First Street for a portion of the Municpal Authority's new 12-inch water main. The water main installation project, which is part of a $7.5 million upgrade of the town's water system that also includes a water treatment plant, began last week and is expected to be completed sometime in November, according to project engineer Jamie Shambaugh of Gannett Fleming Inc. Once completed the new 10,500-foot-long water main around McConnellsburg will double the capacity of McConnellsburg's water system. Pictured with Stenger is Charles E.
