Dorothy Rohm shows of five giant turnips she harvested from seed sown Good Friday in her Sawmill Road home garden in Belfast Township. The largest turnip pictured weighs almost three pounds and measures 15-1/2 inches around and 7 inches long. Another is slightly smaller at 15-1/2 inches around and 6-1/2 inches long and another is 13 inches in diameter and 6-1/2 inches in length. Dorothy’s beet crop has produced 60 quarts of canned beets and 12 bushels of beets that were sold. She says her largest beets each made two quarts of canned beets.
