The sixth-grade students from McConnellsburg Middle School character education class participated in a hugely successful community service project for the Bedford County Humane Society. Students gathered dog food, cat food, snacks, toys, bedding and treats for the animals. The students also solicited more than $600 in donations for their cause. The students elected to help these needy animals not knowing that this project would come at a time when the dogs and cats were down to their last bags of food at the facility. The students learned of the situation and were more than happy to assist. This really made the students feel valued to know that they made a difference in these animals’ lives. The students called themselves, “Animals’ Angels” and they truly were.
