Forbes Road School District librarian Amanda Brown helps students, left to right, Dorian Clapsaddle, Colt Souders and Jordan Zeger put the finishing touches on their personalized antenna balls during the school's summer reading camp. The five-day program entitled "Road Trip USA 2011" kicked off Monday with a "virtual" online tour of the United States, which included a pit stop at the nation's capitol in Washington, D.C. The 24 students enrolled in kindergarten through fifth grade also enjoyed making name tag necklaces from bus, train and camera cutouts. The program will wrap up on Friday with a special visit at 9:30 a.m. from 2010 Iditarod Teacher on the Trail Herb Brambley, who will be joined by his sled dogs. Brambley will give an overview of his time in Alaska and will also sign copies of his book entitled “Cotton's Tale.” The book will be available for purchase at a price of $12.50. Students as well as their parents are urged to attend Friday's special feature. 6p1.jpg
