As a reward for a job well done and as a conclusion to this year’s presentation of “Footloose,” the cast and crew of the Forbes Road Drama Club travelled to New York City on Friday, March 25. In addition to taking in the sights and sounds of the Big Apple, the students had a unique opportunity during the one-day trip to experience Broadway theater in action through Theater Direct International’s “Broadway Classroom Program.” At a Broadway studio located in the theater district of Manhattan, “Wicked” cast members Brian Wanee, “Kenway,” Erica Kaplan and Brian Hertz instructed Forbes Road students on the art of theater song and movement through music, lyrics and choreography. The club members were also afforded the opportunity to ask questions of the “Wicked” cast members. The students then toured Manhattan, convened in Times Square for dinner and took in the Broadway show “Wicked,” a prequel to the “Wizard of Oz.” Anyone interested in experiencing the “Broadway Classroom Program” by Theater Direct International may contact Vickie Plummer via e-mail at vplummer@broadway.com. 54p1.jpg
