The McConnellsburg Municipal Authority's $7.5 million project to upgrade the town's water system is continuing with the construction of a 5,700-square-foot treatment plant next to its 500,000 gallon reservoir at Lions Park Drive and Reservoir Lane. The plant, which will have the capacity to treat 400,000 gallons of water a day, is scheduled for completion in January, according to Jamie Shambaugh, engineer, Gannett Fleming Inc. Installation of a 10,500-foot-long, 12-inch water main for the borough is set to begin very soon, possibly this week, with completion expected sometime in November. Shambaugh said the upgraded system will double the capacity of the present system and can be expanded with growth and development. 001p1_xlg.jpg
