Pennsylvania Game Commission officials used bacon fat as well as leftover cookies and coconut cake to trap this 500-plus-pound plus black bear at the Log Cabin Road, Fort Littleton area home of Harry Helser on Saturday, March 27. According to Fulton County WCO Kevin Mountz, the bear had broken into an outbuilding on Helser’s property and eaten corn and a 25-pound bag of sunflower seeds. A barrel-style trap was placed near the scene for two nights before the bruin was caught and taken to the Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club, where students participating in the hunter education course were treated to a processing demonstration. A tooth was pulled from the bear, and its ear was tagged in order for it to be transported from the area and released into the wild. Photo by Jean Carbaugh 008p1.jpg
