Two McConnellsburg residents were flown to Altoona Trauma Center after having been injured in a two-vehicle collision in Ayr Township Monday afternoon. Robert Pittman, 85, and Esta Pittman, 82, sustained serious injuries in the 2:48 p.m. accident at the intersection of Great Cove and Back Run roads, according to McConnellsburg state police. The crash occurred when Robert Pittman attempted to make a left-hand turn onto Back Run Road and crossed into the path of a southbound 2006 Dodge Caravan operated by Holly Heller, 26, of Needmore. The right front of Robert Pittman’s 1999 Chevrolet S-10 collided with the front of Heller’s van. Heller was able to exit her vehicle before it drifted into a cornfield against a high tensile fence an estimated 400 yards from the initial crash scene. Heller was transported to Fulton County Medical Center by McConnellsburg Ambulance where she was treated for minor injuries. Robert Pittman will be cited by state police for turning movements and required signals. 020p1.jpg
