Mary E. Mellott

Mrs. Mary E. (Gordon) Mellott, 85, Waynesboro, died Sunday, January 6, 2019, in the home of her daughter, Karen, in Chambersburg.

Born July 3, 1933, in Needmore, she was the daughter of the late Clarence L. and Mildred (Brady) Gordon.

She graduated from Bethel Township High School as salutatorian of the Class of 1952.

She and her husband of more than 66 years, William I. Mellott, were married September 14, 1952, in Hancock.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, reading and doing crossword puzzles.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters: Linda Martin and her husband, Ronald, Waynesboro; Karen Noll and her husband, Rick, Chambersburg, and Pamela Sherman and her husband, Tom, Millersville, Md.; six grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; three sisters: Virginia Cantner, Needmore; Shirley Gordon, Martinsburg, W.Va., and Charlene Gordon, McConnellsburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, William Brian Mellott, who passed away in 1994, and one brother, Merill Gordon.

Private services were held with her son-in-law, Rev. Rick Noll officiating. Burial was private in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
