FOOD AND DINING

Free Lunch Lunch will be served every first Friday of each month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at McConnellsburg United Methodist Faith and Life Center, across from the courthouse. Parking available behind the church. Soup, sandwiches, salad bar, potato bar and dessert bar are served. Dine-in or carryouts with donations accepted.

Cookie Sale A cookie sale will be held December 17, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Hustontown Senior Center.

Spaghetti Supper A free spaghetti supper will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church, 7404 Lincoln Highway, Harrisonville, December 11, from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Served will be pasta, salad, bread, dessert and beverage. All are welcome. Donations accepted.

Meals Available Once a month volunteers pack up boxes of food to be given to anyone in need in the Waterfall area. Pickup is at Center United Methodist Church community building on Doran Road, Waterfall. More information may be obtained by calling 814-685-3780. Calls will be kept strictly confidential.

Free Meal A free meal will be served the second Tuesday of each month at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 North Third Street. Please join in for good fellowship.

RECREATION

Railroad Club Open House Cumberland Valley Model Railroad Club will hold an open house December 9, 16, 22 and 29; January 6 and 13, from noon to 4 p.m., at 440 Nelson Street, Chambersburg. Mic Night Mic Night will be held at Warfordsburg Senior Center December 8, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., weather permitting. Kitchen opens at 4 p.m. Food and drink will be available. Monetary donations are appreciated. Everyone is welcome. For more information call 717-294-6020.

Employment Expo A career and employment expo will be held December 19 at 2007 Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona. The public is welcome from 11 a.m to 3 p.m. and veterans only from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. For more information call 814-946-6996.

Holiday Centerpiece Workshop A fresh holiday centerpiece workshop will be held Saturday, December 8. Session 1 will be from 9 a.m. to noon and session 2 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at Fulton County Extension Office, 610 East North Street, McConnellsburg. Cost is $20 (money must accompany reservation). To reserve a seat call 717-325-4874. Join the Master Gardeners for the popular workshop to make a fresh centerpiece for the holiday table. Bring small pruners, scissors and gloves if you wish to handle greens as well as any other small items to include in the centerpiece.

Work Experience Program Employment and Training Inc. of Fulton County is recruiting out-of-school youths ages 16-24 for the Work Experience Program. Individuals will be placed at host work sites fitting to his/her interests and must meet WIOA eligibility to participate. All jobs are with local employers for 30 hours per week at $8 per hour. Scouts Accepting Members Troop 43, chartered by the United Presbyterian Church of McConnellsburg, is accepting boys ages 11-17. Free Computer Certificate Programs Free computer certificate programs with more than 10 different computer programs to choose from. Pop-Up Library Join at the Warfordsburg Senior Center and Cathy’s Store in Crystal Spring for a pop-up library. Check out books and other items. Let the library know ahead of time and they will bring it. Register for a library card and access online services. Join in first and third Thursdays from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., at Warfordsburg and 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Crystal Spring. All are invited.

Preschool Story Hour Join in for songs, stories, and activities to help a child love reading from birth. Preschool Story Hour is held weekly at 10:30 a.m. Hustontown Branch Library hosts Tuesdays and McConnellsburg Library Wednesdays. Blood Drive Red Cross will be receiving blood donations Thursday, December 6, from 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at Warfordsburg Faith Center. Please call 1-800-733-2767 or visit redcrossblood.org to schedule an appointment. Red Cross indicates that there is a critical need for blood at this time.

Narcotics Anonymous Meets two times per week in Mc- Connellsburg. NA is a nonprofit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. Members share their successes and challenges in overcoming active addiction and living drug-free, productive lives through the application of the principles contained within the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of NA (patterned after Alcoholics Anonymous.) Anyone is welcome no matter what is used or how big the desire to stop using is. Sundays at 7 p.m. in Fulton County Medical Center Wellness Center, 294 Lincoln Way West (old Dollar General); Thursdays at 7 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 228 North Second Street, Mc- Connellsburg (down the outside stairs). Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held every Wednesday at 7 p.m., including holidays, in the basement of McConnellsburg alumni building, 301 East Maple Street. This is an open meeting that anyone can attend.

Nutrition Class Fulton County nutrition awareness classes are held at Warfordsburg Senior Center on the third Monday of every month from 10:30 a.m. to noon. When the third Monday is a holiday, the class is held the fourth Monday. To register or sign up for lunch call 717-294-6020.

Memory Loss Support Group A memory loss support group meets the third Tuesday monthly, at 6 p.m., in the Pearl Room at Fulton County Medical Center. Please use the south entrance. For more information call 717-485-6108.

MEETINGS

Singles Meeting Knobsville Singles will meet Monday, December 10, at 11 a.m., at K’s Place for a Christmas party and a $5 gift exchange.

Democratic Club Meeting Fulton County Democratic Club meets the second Tuesday of each month at Democratic headquarters, 123 South Second Street, McConnellsburg. All are welcome. More information may be obtained by calling 717-485-3386.

Legion Meeting American Legion Post 561 active members regular meeting is the first Tuesday of every month at 7: 00 p. m. Auxiliary members meet the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p. m. SAL meeting is the first Thursday of every month at 7 p. m. Members of the organizations are urged to attend.

Gospel Band Guilford Station gospel band will be appearing at Amaranth Church of the Brethren, 2706 McKees Gap Road, Warfordsburg, Sunday, December 16. All are welcome.

Living Nativity Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren presents Walking Through The Christmas Story, a living nativity on Saturday, December 15, from 6 p. m. to 8 p. m., and Sunday, December 16, from 5 p. m. to 7 p. m. Join in for a walk through the nativity. Dress warm and bring family, friends and neighbors. Cookies and hot chocolate will be served.

Candlelight Service Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren will hold a Christmas candlelight service Sunday, December

23, at 7 p. m. Please join in for a special service of music, kids’ programs and a brief message, concluding with a candlelight service.

Christmas Program Laurel Ridge Christian Church will hold its Christmas program, “Christmas On Prosperity Lane” by Susan Evans, Saturday, December 8, at 7 p. m. All are welcome.
