Community Thanksgiving Dinner A free turkey dinner with all the trimmings will be served Thursday, November 22, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at McConnellsburg United Methodist Church, on the square, in the Faith & Life Center. All are welcome. Please call 717-485-4815 with a count if attending. Delivery for shut-ins is also available. Call to arrange for delivery.

Turkey Dinner Breezewood Volunteer Fire Co. will hold a turkey dinner November 11, at 11 a.m. until sold out. Meals will be available to eat in or to take out. Proceeds benefit Breezewood Volunteer Fire Co.

Free Lunch Lunch will be served every first Friday of each month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at McConnellsburg United Methodist Faith and Life Center, across from the courthouse. Parking available behind the church. Soup, sandwiches, salad bar, potato bar and dessert bar are served. Dine-in or carryouts with donations accepted.

Meals Available Once a month volunteers pack up boxes of food to be given to anyone in need in the Waterfall area. Pickup is at Center United Methodist Church community building on Doran Road, Waterfall. More information may be obtained by calling 814-685-3780. Calls will be kept strictly confidential.

Turkey Supper A turkey supper will be held November 10, at 4 p.m., at Shade Gap auxiliary building. Cost is adults $10; children ages 6-12 $6; and 5 and under are free. Takeouts also available. Benefits Shade Gap Fire Co.

Grandma Ann’s Thanksgiving Pie Sale Saint Stephen Catholic Church will sponsor a Grandma Ann’s Thanksgiving pie sale. Available for order are apple and cherry, plain and crumb topping. Price per pie is $10. Pies can be picked up after 3 p.m., November 16. Orders are due November 8. Please call 485-3666.

Pie Sale Several varieties of whole pies will be for sale at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church school house in Big Cove Tannery Saturday, November 10, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost will be $10 each for all pies. Get pies early and freeze for the holidays. Come early for the best selection. Any questions regarding this sale contact Marianne Hoffman at 717-485-9354.

Potpie Dinner A ham potpie dinner will be held Friday, November 9, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at Warfordsburg Presbyterian Faith Center, 12941 Buck Valley Road, Warfordsburg. Donations will be accepted. Proceeds benefit the general fund.

Veterans Dinner Everyone is invited to Calvary Independent Baptist Church in McConnellsburg for the annual veterans dinner. The meal will be served at 5:30 p.m. November 10. There is no cost. This meal is to honor veterans and their families and friends. Speaker will be Chris Huss. More information available by calling 717-485-4745.

Turkey Dinner Breezewood Fire Co. will hold a turkey dinner at the hall November 11 at 11 a.m. until sold out. As a small way of saying thank-you for their service, veterans who present military ID will eat for free. Meals will be available to eat-in or takeout. Proceeds benefit Breezewood Fire Co. Free Meal A free meal will be served the second Tuesday of each month at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 North Third Street. Please join in for good fellowship.

RECREATION

FCHS Dinner Auction Fulton County Historical Society will host its annual dinner auction Saturday, November 10, at Needmore Bible Church. A silent auction will be held from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. A ham and turkey dinner will be served at 6 p.m., followed by the traditional auction at 6:30 p.m. Donations are currently being accepted for both the silent and traditional auctions and are greatly appreciated. Numerous items have already been collected, such as an antique squeeze box accordion, a gun and other sporting goods, handcrafted furniture, jewelry, sporting clays package, collectables and more. Indoor Soccer The first night of indoor soccer for fourth grade thru adults will be Friday, November 9, at 5 p.m. Six players on a team. Register as a team or as an individual to be put on a team. Dodgeball Tournament The alumni community building will host a dodgeball tournament Saturday, November 24, with proceeds going to help the museums. Registration starts at noon until 2:45 p.m. Games start at 1 p.m. For information call Kathy Kendall at 717-377-3643.

Employment Expo A career and employment expo will be held December 19 at 2007 Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona. The public is welcome from 11 a.m to 3 p.m. and veterans only from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. For more information call 814-946-6996.

Senior Center Social Night Warfordsburg Senior Center will host its last social night until March of next year Saturday, November 28. Seniors 60 and older come and enjoy an evening of DJ music. Bring a covered dish; meat is furnished by the club. Meal is at 5 p.m. Music will start shortly after. For more information call 717-294-6020.

Art Class Nancy Hogan, area artist, is offering to teach the ABCs of painting at Warfordsburg Senior Center. Looking for participants who would like to learn how to paint. She would be starting with sketching and possibly ending with acrylics. Classes would be free with the exception of supplies and will be held in the morning one or two days a week for six weeks for approximately an hour. Mic Night Mic Night will be held at Warfordsburg Senior Center November 10, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., weather permitting. Kitchen opens at 4 p.m. Food and drink will be available. Monetary donations are appreciated. Everyone is welcome. For more information call 717-294-6020.

X Card Shoots Fulton County Pistol & Rifle Club will hold X card shoots every Friday night at 7 p.m. thru November 16. Kitchen opens and registration starts at 5:30 p.m. Meat prizes and special rounds for cash or other prizes.

Memorial Service A memorial service will be held Sunday, November 11, at 10:30 a.m., at Union Cemetery, to mark the 100th year anniversary of the end of World War I in honor of county veterans of the Great War. Hosted by Fulton County Honor Guard.

Book Fair A book fair will be held Tuesday, November 13, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., in the main lobby of Fulton County Medical Center. Sponsored by Fulton County Medical Center auxiliary.

Window Decorating Contest Main Street McConnellsburg will hold a winter-themed window painting/decorating contest for all McConnellsburg businesses. The contest starts immediately and projects must be completed by November 30. There will be a community-based judging of the windows and the winners will receive a $50 gift card to Tower Ridge Inn. Holiday Centerpiece Workshop A fresh holiday centerpiece workshop will be held Saturday, December 8. Session 1 will be from 9 a.m. to noon and session 2 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at Fulton County Extension Office, 610 East North Street, Mc- Connellsburg. Cost is $20 (money must accompany reservation). To reserve a seat call 717-325-4874. Join the Master Gardeners for the popular workshop to make a fresh centerpiece for the holiday table. Bring small pruners, scissors and gloves if you wish to handle greens as well as any other small items to include in the centerpiece.

Scouts Accepting Members Troop 43, chartered by the United Presbyterian Church of McConnellsburg, is accepting boys ages 11-17. Rabies/Distemper/Microchip Clinic Better Days Animal League will hold a rabies, distemper, microchip clinic Sunday, November 10, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Better Days Animals League Thrift Store in Fort Loudon. Cost is cash only; dogs and cats rabies vaccine are $14 ($10 with another vaccine); present previous rabies certificate and receive 3-year vaccine; distemper is $14; feline leukemia is $10; Bordetella is $15; and microchip is $35. Free Computer Certificate Programs Free computer certificate programs with more than 10 different computer programs to choose from. Pop-Up Library Join at the Warfordsburg Senior Center and Cathy’s Store in Crystal Spring for a pop-up library. Check out books and other items. Let the library know ahead of time and they will bring it. Register for a library card and access online services. Join in first and third Thursdays from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., at Warfordsburg and 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Crystal Spring. All are invited.

Preschool Story Hour Join in for songs, stories, and activities to help a child love reading from birth. Preschool Story Hour is held weekly at 10:30 a.m. Hustontown Branch Library hosts Tuesdays and McConnellsburg Library Wednesdays. Narcotics Anonymous Meets two times per week in Mc- Connellsburg. NA is a nonprofit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. Members share their successes and challenges in overcoming active addiction and living drug- free, productive lives through the application of the principles contained within the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of NA (patterned after Alcoholics Anonymous.) Anyone is welcome no matter what is used or how big the desire to stop using is. Sundays at 7 p. m. in Fulton County Medical Center Wellness Center, 294 Lincoln Way West (old Dollar General); Thursdays at 7 p. m. at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 228 North Second Street, McConnellsburg (down the outside stairs). Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held every Wednesday at 7 p. m., including holidays, in the basement of McConnellsburg alumni building, 301 East Maple Street. This is an open meeting that anyone can attend.

Nutrition Class Fulton County nutrition awareness classes are held at Warfordsburg Senior Center on the third Monday of every month from 10: 30 a. m. to noon. When the third Monday is a holiday, the class is held the fourth Monday. To register or sign up for lunch call 717- 294- 6020.

Memory Loss Suppor t Group A memory loss support group meets the third Tuesday monthly, at 6 p. m., in the Pearl Room at Fulton County Medical Center. Please use the south entrance. For more information call 717- 485- 6108.

MEETINGS

Singles Meeting Knobsville Singles will meet Monday, November 12, at 11 a. m, at K’s Place for a turkey dinner.

Sportsmen’s League Meeting Fulton County Sportsmen’s League will meet at 7 p. m., November 16, in the stone house at the trout nursery. The league meets the third Friday of each month except July and August. Mark calendars and attend each meeting to share input on decisions affecting the organization. Officers and board members for 2019 will be nominated. The drawing for the fall raffle will be held at the conclusion of the meeting.
