Turkey Dinners Breezewood Volunteer Fire Co. will hold turkey dinners October 14 and November 11, at 11 a.m. until sold out. Meals will be available to eat in or to take out. Mark calendars for trunk-or-treat October 27. Proceeds benefit Breezewood Volunteer Fire Co.

Free Lunch Lunch will be served every first Friday of each month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at McConnellsburg United Methodist Faith and Life Center, across from the courthouse. Parking available behind the church. Soup, sandwiches, salad bar, potato bar and dessert bar are served. Dine-in or carryouts with donations accepted.

Pancake Supper Whips Cove Church will hold a pancake supper Saturday, November 3, at 5 p.m. The menu will consist of buttermilk and old-fashioned buckwheat pancakes, ham, sausage links, sausage gravy, puddin’, fried and scrambled eggs, hot chocolate, orange juice and coffee. Democratic Fall Dinner The Democratic fall dinner will be held October 13, at 6:30 p.m., at McConnellsburg Firehall. Cost is adults $15; children 7-12 $7.50; and under 6 are free. Get tickets from any committee person or at the door.

Free Meal A free meal will be served the second Tuesday of each month at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 North Third Street. Please join in for good fellowship.

Apple Dumpling Sale Center United Methodist Church ladies are taking orders for apple dumplings. Cost is $3 each. Orders are due by Friday, October 12, and can be picked up at the community building, at the intersection of Frick Road and Dublin Mills Road near Waterfall, Wednesday, October 17, between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. If unable to pick up during these times please let them know when ordering. REUNIONS

MHS Class Reunion Members and guests of Mc- Connellsburg High School Class of 1956 are invited to New Fort Restaurant October 27, at 1 p.m., for lunch and fellowship.

Pumpkin Patch Trolley The Pumpkin Patch Trolley will run Saturday and Sunday, October 13 and 14, at Rockhill Trolley Museum, 430 Meadow Street, Rockhill Furnace. Children 12 and under get a free pumpkin while supplies last to decorate with supplies provided. Ride a restored antique trolley and choose a pumpkin. Cost is $8. Held rain or shine. Fulton Fatherhood Come join the Fulton Fatherhood Friday night at 6 p.m., at Fulton Theater for pumpkin painting fun.

Fall Festival The Akersville Fall Festival will be held October 18, 19 and 20, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 3431 South Valley Road, Crystal Spring. Fifty spaces of crafters and vendors, good food, cost of food by donation, ice cream, antique cars and tractors, kids activities, raffles, live music and so much more. Come join in for a fun-filled family friendly day. From Route 30 take 915 south 2.5 miles; from I70 take Crystal Spring Exit 151, to 915 north 3.5 miles.

X Card Shoots Fulton County Pistol & Rifle Club will hold X card shoots every Friday night at 7 p.m., thru November 16. Kitchen opens and registration starts at 5:30 p.m. Meat prizes and special rounds for cash or other prizes.

Barn Quilt Tour Fulton County Historical Society will hold a fall Frontier Barn Quilt bus tour Friday, October 19. The tour includes nearly 40 new and unique barn quilts in western Fulton County and a visit to the Akersville Fall Festival. The bus will leave the McConnellsburg Giant parking lot at 10 a.m., and arrive at Akersville for 1½ hours of shopping at more than 50 vendors of crafts, apparel, antiques, vintage farm equipment and more; display watching and lunch. After lunch, the tour will head south from Akersville in some of the most beautiful rural countryside in the Appalachian Mountain Range and return to the Giant parking lot around 3:30 p.m. More information and tickets are available by contacting Mike Crampton at 717-830-5953; or e-mail, info@frontierbarnquilttrail.com. Pop-Up Library Join at the Warfordsburg Senior Center and Cathy’s Store in Crystal Spring for a pop-up library. Check out books and other items. Let the library know ahead of time and they will bring it. Register for a library card and access online services. Join in first and third Thursdays from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., at Warfordsburg and 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Crystal Spring. All are invited.

Fall Harvest Milestones Wellness Outreach will present its fall harvest Saturday, October 13, from noon to 6 p.m. Admission is free at S&M Transport, 6602 Great Cove Road, Needmore. Hayrides, music and entertainment, outdoor games, face painting, pumpkin painting, sensory play, food and vendors. Proceeds benefit funding of the inclusive playground at Lions Club Park in Warfordsburg.

Craft/Bazaar Sale A holiday craft and art bazaar will be held Friday, November 2, from noon to 8 p.m., and Saturday, November 3, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Fair Ridge Assembly of God gymnasium, one mile north of old Sunny Ridge Restaurant at 22776 Piper Lane, Shade Gap. FR Hockey Alumni Night Forbes Road field hockey will hold alumni night Tuesday, October 16, at 4 p.m., behind the old high school building. Bring old field hockey district jackets and other vintage apparel. There will be a short program and picture time following the current field hockey game that day with Southern Huntingdon.

Family Fun Festival A free family fun fall festival will be held Sunday, October 14, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., at Widmeyer Park in Hancock. Hay rides, scarecrow making, photo booth, cake walk, pumpkin decorating and lots of other free games and fun. All are welcome.

Mic Night Mic Night will be held at Warfordsburg Senior Center October 13, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Kitchen opens at 4 p.m. Food and drink will be available. Monetary donations are appreciated. Everyone is welcome. For more information call 717-294-6020.

 Meal Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will hold a roast beef dinner October 19; a potpie dinner and open stage October 20 and a buffet October 21.

Breakfast Buffet A breakfast buffet will be held Saturday, October 20, at Cito Fellowship Hall, from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. There will be a breakfast buffet including pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns, chipped beef gravy, orange juice, toast and coffee. No charge, donations accepted. The hall is located at 3746 Cito Road, McConnellsburg. All are welcome.

Scouts Accepting Members Troop 43, chartered by the United Presbyterian Church of McConnellsburg, is accepting boys ages 11-17. Master Gardener Class A Penn State Extension Master Gardener class on sedum centerpieces will be held Saturday, October 6, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the Extension office. Cost is $20. To register call 717-325-4871. Sharon Snyder will lead the workshop on sedums. Topics will include types of sedums, caring for them and using them to decorate within the home. Participants will be given an opportunity to make an indoor autumn centerpiece.

FAFSA Information Anyone having a son or daughter who is a senior this year and need information on filling out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), Mc- Connellsburg High School will host a workshop presented by PHEAA Monday, October 22, at 6 p.m., in the high school cafeteria. Free Computer Certificate Programs Free computer certificate programs with more than 10 different computer programs to choose from. 55-ALIVE Classes The Warfordsburg Senior Center will offer a class for the 55-Aive/Smart driving discount program, October 24. The class is from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Must preregister, either in person or by calling the center. Checks are made payable to AARP for $20 (per person non-member) or $15 (per person AARP member). Warfordsburg Senior Center is located at 209 Long Hollow Road, Warfordsburg. If planning on having lunch, please be sure to make reservations for lunch when registering. Turkey Supper St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 North Third Street, McConnellsburg, will hold a turkey dinner Friday, October 19, at 4:30 p.m. Cost is adults $10; ages 6-12 $6 and under 6 are free.

Meals Available Once a month volunteers pack up boxes of food to be given to anyone in need in the Waterfall area. Food Giveaway A community food giveaway will be held Saturday, October 13, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., or while supplies last, at Rehoboth New Life Church, 8159 Great Cove Road, Needmore (former Fulton Co. Community Christian School). All are welcome. No eligibility requirements.

Preschool Story Hour Join in for songs, stories, and activities to help a child love reading from birth. Nurturing Parenting Classes Fulton County Family Partnership is offering free nurturing parenting classes at 1 p. m. October 15, at 22438 Great Cove Road, McConnellsburg. Learn to be more effective communciating with children, setting limits and avoiding power struggles. Learn to be a positive and supportive parent to build a better relationship with a child. Narcotics Anonymous Meets two times per week in Mc- Connellsburg. NA is a nonprofit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. Members share their successes and challenges in overcoming active addiction and living drug- free, productive lives through the application of the principles contained within the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of NA (patterned after Alcoholics Anonymous.) Anyone is welcome no matter what is used or how big the desire to stop using is. Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held every Wednesday at 7 p. m., including holidays, in the basement of McConnellsburg alumni building, 301 East Maple Street. This is an open meeting that anyone can attend.

RELIGION

Tonoloway Open House Fulton County’s oldest church, Tonoloway Primitive Bapatist, organized circa 1745, will host an open house Saturday, October 20 during Fulton Fall Folk Festival. The open house runs from 10 a. m. until 4 p. m. The church is located two miles north of Hancock on Rte. 655. The present day church was completed in 1835 and was used as a hospital for Union troops during Stonewall Jackson’s 1862 bombardment of Hancock . Observe preserved signatures of Civil War soldiers on the church interior walls which have been documented in a book written by John Mentzer. The book is entitled “Tonoloway, If Walls Could Talk .” This book and others will be available purchase. The sale of these books benefit restoration and maintenance of the historical church.

MEETINGS

Gar den Club Meeting North End Garden Club will meet October 23, at 11 a. m, at K’s Place.

Sportsmen’s Meeting Fulton County Sportsmen’s League will meet at 7 p. m., in the stone house at the trout nursery October 19. This is an important meeting and members are encouraged to attend.

Fall PASR Meeting All public school retirees are invited to the fall PASR meeting October 30 at 10 a. m., at Mc- Connellsburg United Presbyterian Church basement (handicap accessible), corner of Second (U. S. Rte. 522) and Maple Street. Marilys Palmer will show how her therapy dog helps people. The meeting will conclude with a soup and sandwich meal for $5. Other interesting parts of the meeting are still being planned. Suggestions are welcome.
