Tonoloway Open House

Fulton County’s oldest church, Tonoloway Primitive Bapatist, organized circa 1745, will host an open house Saturday, October 20 during Fulton Fall Folk Festival.

The open house runs from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The church is located two miles north of Hancock on Rte. 655.

The present day church was completed in 1835 and was used as a hospital for Union troops during Stonewall Jackson’s 1862 bombardment of Hancock. Observe preserved signatures of Civil War soldiers on the church interior walls which have been documented in a book written by John Mentzer. The book is entitled “Tonoloway, If Walls Could Talk.” This book and others will be available purchase. The sale of these books benefit restoration and maintenance of the historical church.

All are welcome to attend these services.
