Melvin B. Snyder

Port Republic, Va., 70

Melvin Benjamin Snyder Jr., 70, Port Republic, Va., formerly of Hancock, died unexpectedly due to injuries from an auto accident on August 29, 2018, at Sentara RMH Medical Center.

He was born in Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown, May 30, 1948, the son of the late Melvin B. Snyder and Mary Rebecca (Ditto) Snyder.

He is survived by a brother, Donald Snyder, and wife Joan, of Needmore; two nephews and one niece, along with five great-nieces and one-great nephew.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ellen Sunderland, and a brother-in-law, Jack, both of Hagerstown, and one infant brother.

He worked at Advantage Physical Therapy in Elkton.

A memorial service was held at Johnson Funeral Service in Grottoes Sept. 8. Rev. Jerry Fletcher officiated.

A memorial service will also be held at Independent Holiness Church in Harrisonville, Saturday, Sept. 15, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Toby Mellott officiating.

Burial will be at Pleasant Ridge Brethren Church in Needmore, at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations may be made to Needmore Volunteer Fire Co. or the charity of one’s choice.
