Employment and Training Inc. of Fulton County, a satellite office of the Pennsylvania Career- Link Huntingdon County, held a summer recognition ceremony August 17, to recognize 10 area youths for their accomplishments in the summer work experience program.

The Summer Work Experience Program provides youths an opportunity to be employed at host worksites throughout the summer gaining valuable work experience. A big thanks goes out to businesses for serving as host worksites, serving as mentors and supervisors to the summer workers. This year’s host worksites included Camp Sinoquipe, Cardinal Glen Terrace, Fulton County Family Partnership, Fulton County Food Basket, Fulton

County Library, Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg Motor & Implement, and Paws for Hope.

In addition to summer employment opportunities, youths participated in occupational foundation classes at the start of the summer program. Pre-employment classes covered a variety of topics, including workplace communication, succeeding in the workplace, labor market orientation, and job searching techniques, interview preparation skills, resume preparation, and financial literacy. Guest speakers for the occupational foundation classes included Teresa Leese from PA Department of Health; Tina Imes from Allegheny College of Maryland; Brad Wissinger from Buchanan Trail Sporters, and Bertha Peffer from F&M Trust.

Keynote speakers for the recognition ceremony were Lukas Suders, business development representative for Jerr-Dan, and Sara Exline, accounting manager, for JLG Industries Inc.
