N.J. Man Killed In I-70 Crash

STAFF REPORT

A young man from New Jersey was killed Sunday afternoon when the Toyota Camry he was a passenger in rolled over on Interstate 70 in Brush Creek Township, according to state police.

Zachary F. Garcia, 21, of Cliff Hills, N.J., was pronounced dead at the scene. Other passengers, Andrew Carlin, 21, Pompton Plains, N.J.; William McCarthy Liebler, 22, California, Md.; Andrew Joseph Minkin, 21, Owings Mills, Md.; and Adam Lee Kaplan, 21, N. Potomac, Md., were transported to University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Altoona for treatment.

Troopers reported that the crash occurred at 2:19 p.m., when the eastbound Toyota left the roadway and veered back into traffic near the 157 mile marker. Due to wet road conditions, the Toyota then overturned multiple times and came to rest on its roof. The roadway was closed for about two hours while authorities investigated.
