Two Counties Declare Disaster After PA Flooding

MOUNT JOY, Pa. (AP) – Heavy rains sent water overflowing creeks and roads in south-central Pennsylvania, resulting in water rescues and evacuations and prompting disaster declarations from two counties.

The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency says Lancaster and York counties issued disaster declarations after last Friday’s deluge. The National Weather Service reports 5 to 10 inches of rain in parts of Lancaster, York and Lebanon counties.

A PEMA spokeswoman says evacuations were reported in a number of counties, but no injuries were reported. LNP newspaper reports that Lancaster County emergency officials received numerous calls for stranded motorists, including a school bus stuck in Mount Joy and a vehicle swept into a creek.
