Wells Tannery Car Show Winners

The 71st annual Wells Tannery homecoming and ninth annual car show was held July 28. The rain kept the car show numbers down, but there were still 34 quality cars and trucks.

Bob Nace of McConnellsburg won the Classic Division Best of Show with his 1970 Chevy Chevelle SS. Erin Ogg of Duncansville won the President’s Choice award with her 2016 Chevrolet Corvette.

Marlin Ditmer of Mechanicsburg won the Vintage Division Best of Show with his 1940 Ford coupe. James Konitsky of Central City won the Chairman’s Choice award with his 1932 Ford coupe.

There were a total of 190 votes cast for the People’s Choice award, and it was won by Gary Hockensmith of Wells Tannery with his 1996 Chevy Corvette.

Top choice trophies were awarded to 18 other quality cars and trucks.

Sponsors for the event were M.R. Brown Funeral Home, Improved Order of Red Men, Moose Lodge 480, Painter’s Garage, Golden Eagle Inn, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Wells Township supervisors, Community State Bank of Orbisonia, Everett Foodliner, McConnellsburg FOVA/VFW Post 655, Forbes Road Lions Club, Guardian Veterans Motorcycle Club, Everett VFW Post 2088 and Gerald Wright and family.

Sponsors and community residents and friends donated food and money and, many volunteers served great food, put together the car show and the kids games.

Next year’s homecoming and car show will be held July 26.
