By Cassidy Pittman

Allen White, disaster recovery specialist, and Beverly Stambaugh, south-central Pa. executive director, of the American Red Cross met with commissioners Stuart Ulsh, Pete Lynch, and Rodney McCray at their weekly meeting July 24 to sign a facility use agreement between the American Red Cross and the county of Fulton. After a brief discussion the commissioners agreed to sign an agreement that allows the three senior citizen buildings in the county to be used in the event of a disaster.

During the meeting White remarked that anyone willing to be a local volunteer should contact him at allen.white@redcross.org or 717-257-1822 at Extension 1665. County solicitor Stanley Kerlin was also in attendance at this meeting to review the facility use agreement.

Following their July 17 meeting, the commissioners learned that Keith Culbertson, the county’s recently hired parttime deputy sheriff, was not able to fill the position. At last Tuesday’s meeting the position was awarded to Micheal Sprague, effective immediately. Also filled was the Emergency Management Agency director/ 911 coordinator position. The commissioners welcomed Brian Barton as the new coordinator effective Aug. 20. Notification will be sent to the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency for approval.
