Monday evening Ayr Township supervisors met at their monthly meeting to discuss a planned bridge replacement on Route 522 at Lee Glazier’s property just south of Mc- Connellsburg. David Piccolomini of SPK Engineering contacted the supervisors to inform them that the construction would be postponed until the weekend of Aug. 18, due to conflicts at another job. It was originally scheduled to begin Aug. 3 to 7.

Chemung Supply Corp., a pipe supplier out of Cumberland County, sent a price increase that became effective on July 1. The increase is due to the 25 percent tariff recently imposed on steel purchased from Canada and the 25 percent tariff on tungsten carbide coming from China, according to Chemung Supply’s correspondence.

In other news, Ayr Township won first place in the Best Bloomin’ Township category during the Fulton County in Bloom event. Denise Mellott, township secretary, also reminded everyone that Sen. John Eichelberger will be holding his final Fulton County Town Hall meeting on Aug. 2 at the Fulton Theater from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Attending the meeting were township supervisors Sonny Harr, Gary Hopkins, and Tom Nesbitt. Also present were Denise Mellott, township secretary, and Ayr Township resident Dayton Tweedy.
