POST 15 2

Post 561 completed a season sweep of Post 15 at Waynesboro last Tuesday. Post 561 plated the first runs of the contest in the third inning when Logan DeShong and Doogie Garlock both scored after receiving free passes. The lead stretched to 3- 0 in the fourth, as DeShong’s chopper bounded over the shortstop to score Matt Brown. Garlock and Grayson Hall crossed the plate in the fifth, opening the lead to 5-0. Waynesboro answered with their runs in the sixth, as a walk and a double scored the first run. A wild pitch allowed the second run to sneak home. Hall (2-3) and Brycen Hohman (2-4) had multi-hit games for Post 561. Mitch Potter ran his pitching record to 3-0, firing six innings while surrendering just two hits while striking out nine and walking two. Matt Huston earned his first save of the season, striking out the side in the seventh.

Post 561 managed only one base hit on the evening, but that hit was a bases clearing double off the bat of Lucas McClain following four consecutive walks with one out in the sixth inning. St. Thomas scored two runs in the first inning and added a single run in the fourth to open a 3-0 lead before Post 561 managed just enough offense to salvage the win. Matt Brown is credited with the pitching victory, and Brycen Hohman notched his second save of the season.

Uneven play caught up with Post 561 in this key matchup with league-leading Chambersburg. Post 561 opened the scoring in the top of the first. Grayson Hall and Lucas McClain sandwiched singles around Brycen Hohman’s triple to plate the first two runs. Chambersburg answered with one run in the bottom of the first and two in the second to lead 3-2. McClain walked with two outs in the third. Cooper Grove’s flare to center field followed by an errant throw evened the score at 3-3. Single runs in the fifth and sixth put Post 561 ahead 5-3. Chambersburg responded with a single run in the sixth and two in the seventh to walk away with the victory. Hall (2-4), Grove (2-4) and Weston Brunner (2-4, 2B) each posted multi-hit games.

FAYETTEVILLE AA 0

Matt Brown tossed a 1- hit shutout as Post 561 claimed game one of the Friday night doubleheader. Brown struck out three and walked one in going the distance. Doogie Garlock (2-3) had a multi-hit game for Post 561.

Gabe Stotler slugged a double and Brycen Hohman roped a two-run homerun to open the scoring in the first inning. Fayetteville narrowed the lead to 2-1 in the top of the second, but an eight-run bottom half of the frame put the game out of reach. Cale Harman (2-2) and Mitch Potter (2-3) led the 10-hit attack. Weston Brunner, Harman, and Logan DeShong shared mound duties for the nightcap.

Post 561 plated two runs in the third inning and single runs in the fourth and fifth to claim the 4-2 victory over Biglerville. The game was completion of a suspended game from earlier this season. Brycen Hohman completed the game for the pitching victory.

Biglerville claimed the nightcap of this double header in a seesaw affair. Biglerville posted a single run in the first inning, which Post 561 answered in the bottom of the frame as Cooper Grove’s triple chased Doogie Garlock home. A single run in the second gave Post 561 a 2-1 lead, but Biglerville responded with a four-run third inning to lead 5-2. Logan DeShong’s leadoff single followed by a hit batsman and three consecutive walks closed the score to 5-4 after four. Singles by Matt Brown and Colton Souders locked the score at 5-5 through five innings. Biglerville slugged a two-run homerun to claim a 7-5 lead in the seventh. Post 561 answered with one in the bottom of the seventh before their rally stalled. Souders notched the only multi-hit game of the evening for Post 561.
