Master Gardener Program Master Gardener, Penn State Extension, will hold a program on Native Plants & Pollinators Saturday, July 14, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in Waterfall. How to effectively select and grow native plants and how to attract pollinators to your home. Visit an established pollinator meadow and go home with a native plant. Scout Raffle Drawing The Scout raffle drawing to benefit Needmore Boy Scout Troop 45 and the community center will be held Saturday, July 14, at Gordon’s Cruise-in on Rte. 522 in Needmore at 7 p.m. Tickets will be on sale from 6 p.m. until the drawing.

RECREATION

Needmore Parade Needmore firemen’s parade and ice cream social will be held August 18. Parade lineup will be at 5 p.m. and parade at 7 p.m.

WAYS Soccer Registration Warfordsburg Area Youth Soccer will hold in-person sign-ups for the fall season at Gordon’s Cruise-in Wednesday, July 18, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday, July 20, at Widmeyer Park in Hancock, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Contact Becky Duvall for forms or more information at soccerways@yahoo.com or 717-552-6084.

Shoot For Life The 20th annual Shoot For Life for the American Cancer Society will be held July 21 at Everett Sportsmen’s Club with registration from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is a 50-clay bird shoot. Open Stage Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will hold an open stage July 21. Doors open at 4 p.m., kitchen opens at 5 p.m. and music starts at 6 p.m. (Reason for date change is the Wells Tannery Homecoming on July 28.)

Free Concert Cowans Gap will host a free Shindiggin concert Saturday, July 14, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the outdoor amphitheatre. The public is welcome to this family event. Bring lawn chairs.

Wells Tannery Homecoming The 71st annual Wells Tannery Homecoming and car show will be held Saturday, July 28. The traditional parade will start at 11 a.m. and end at the community park where great food will be available. Hot roast beef sandwiches and barbecue chicken will be available plus many delicious sides and desserts including ice cream. Kids’ activities will be available. The ninth annual car and truck show will be at the park from noon to 4 p.m. Live music by “Washington Slept Here” from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Trophies will be awarded and registration will be from noon to 2:30 p.m. Cost is $10. Mic Night Mic Night will be held at Warfordsburg Senior Center July 14, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Kitchen opens at 4 p.m. food and drink will be available. Monetary donations are appreciated. Everyone is welcome! For more information call 717-294-6020.

Christmas in July Shade Gap Assembly of God, one mile north of former Sunny Ridge Restaurant on Piper Lane, will hold Christmas In July Saturday, July 21, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Indoor craft vendors and outside yard sale vendors, along with lunch stand and bake sale. Fatherhood Initiative Come beat the heat with the Fulton County Fatherhood Initiative at Saunderosa July 13, at 5 p.m., for a free swim and light refreshments.

Gun Bash Everett and Breezewood Fire Cos. will hold a gun bash August 25 at the Breezewood Firehall. Free food and refreshments from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. No takeouts. Bring lawn chairs and tents. Outside lighting provided. No one under the age of 18 is permitted. Ticket admits one for a donation of $10. Must have ticket to attend drawing. Doors open at 4 p.m.; drawing starts at 5 p.m. Need not be present to win.

Bluegrass Gospel Festival Bedford Chapel Church on Rte. 643, 4570 Flickerville Road, Warfordsburg, will host its annual festival July 21. Music starts at 5 pm. Food stand opens at 4 p.m. Cake walks and good music. Entertainment provided by Guildford Station. Bring lawn chairs.

Shade Gap Picnic The 135th annual Shade Gap Picnic will be held at Harpers Memorial Park, Shade Gap, July 29 thru August 4. The annual parade will be held Monday at 7 p.m. Fireworks will be held Saturday at 11 p.m. Little Miss Princess contest will be held Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. and entertainment Thursday – “The Little Roy and Lizzy Show” and “Baily’s Crossing”; Friday – Fabulous Flashbacks and Saturday – Crooked Line and Joe Bonson and Coffee Run.

FOOD AND DINING

Farm Bureau Picnic Fulton County Farm Bureau will hold its annual picnic July 15, at 1:30 p.m., at the pavilion and picnic grounds at Siloam Methodist Church, 9541 Pleasant Ridge Road, Harrisonville, about three miles south on Rte. 655 or Pleasant Ridge Road. Bring a covered dish. Meats, drink, dessert, paper products and tableware will be provided. Nonmembers are most welcome to attend. There will be speakers, games and prizes. Free Lunch Lunch will be served every first Friday of each month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at McConnellsburg United Methodist Faith and Life Center, across from the courthouse. Parking available behind the church. Soup, sandwiches, salad bar, potato bar and dessert bar are served. Dine-in or carryouts with donations accepted.

No Free Meal There will be no free meal served at St. Paul Luthern Church in July. See all in August.

Ice Cream Festival Center United Methodist Church will hold an ice cream festival Saturday, July 14, at 4 p.m. Ham dinners are also being served along with barbecues, soup, pie, cake and homemade ice cream. All are welcome.

Homecoming Amaranth Church of the Brethren, 2709 Mckee’s Gap Road, Warfordsburg, off I-70, will hold its annual homecoming service Sunday, July 22, at 10 a.m., with special music and message followed with a meal of roasted pig provided. Food Giveaway A community food giveaway will be held Saturday, July 14, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., or while supplies last, at Rehoboth New Life Church, 8159 Great Cove Road, Needmore (formerly Fulton County Community Christian School). All are welcome. No eligibility guidelines.

Infantry Picnic The 15th Reunion of the 314th Infantry will be held Saturday, August 4, starting at noon until dusk at the American Legion picnic grounds on McGoverns Lane near Mc- Connellsburg. The meal will begin at 3 p.m. and cost is $9 for adults (9 years and up). Any children 8 years and below are free. The menu consists of tenderloin sandwiches, hot dogs, baked potato, macaroni salad, applesauce and punch. Breakfast is also available. Bring own drinks. Plastic cups will be available, if needed. Festival Whips Cove Church, 5044 Moss Road, Warfordsburg, will hold its annual festival Saturday, August 4, at 5 p. m. There will be games for all ages, dart throw, dime pitch and a guess cake. Cake walks beginning at 7: 30 p. m. There will also be a silent auction, homemade chicken corn and bean soup, steamers, hot dogs and french fries. Homemade ice cream and pies also. Ice Cream Festivals Fairview United Methodist Church will hold ice cream festivals July 21 and September 15. The church is located four miles north of Hustontown on North Hess Road. Homemade ice cream, soups, sandwiches, french fries and desserts will be for sale. Festivals begin at 4 p. m.

Shaw Reunion The annual reunion of the descendants of James and Elizabeth Baird Shaw will be held Sunday, August 5, at Widmyer Park in Hancock. Lunch will be served at 1 p. m. and meat and lemonade will be provided by the family.

Buck Valley Church Services Buck Valley Lutheran Church services for July will be held July 8 at 7 p. m. Services for August to November will resume on the third Sunday of the month at 7 p. m. and December will be held on the second

Sunday at 7 p. m.

Summer Of Praise Summer Of Praise will be held July 21 at Hidden Valley Horse Farm, 17739 Great Cove Road, Mc- Connellsburg at 5: 30 p. m. Food vendors. The Living Water Christian Outreach at 6: 30 p. m. Children’s activity ministry also. No admission fee.

MEETINGS

Cemetery Meeting Buck Valley Lutheran Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting Thursday, July 12, at 6 p. m., at the church.

Quilt Club Meeting Fulton County Quilt Club will meet Saturday, July 14, at 10 a. m., in the community room of Fulton

County Library, North First Street, McConnellsburg. This month’s block of the month is weathervane. Bring sewing machine and sewing kit. Materials needed: eight 2 1/ 2- inch background squares, eight 2 1/ 2- inch floral squares, eight floral half square triangles, eight 2 1/ 2- inch coordinating half square triangles, four 2 1/ 2- inch coordinating squares. HEALTH

Narcotics Anonymous Meets two times per week in Mc- Connellsburg. NA is a nonprofit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. Members share their successes and challenges in overcoming active addiction and living drug- free, productive lives through the application of the principles contained within the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of NA (patterned after Alcoholics Anonymous.) Anyone is welcome no matter what is used or how big the desire to stop using is. Sundays at 7 p. m. in Fulton County Medical Center Wellness Center, 294 Lincoln Way West (old Dollar General); Thursdays at 7 p. m. at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 228 North Second Street, McConnellsburg (down the outside stairs).
