Norma Jeanne DeShong, 67, McConnellsburg, died Monday, June 25, 2018, in Cape Charles, Va.

She was born in Mc- Connellsburg, April 3, 1951, the daughter of the late Janet E. (Hockensmith) and Chalmer Leroy Hann. She was the wife of Thomas “Ed” DeShong Sr., whom she married on June 2, 1970.

She was a member of Greenhill Sewing Club in Harrisonville; VFW Post #655 ladies auxiliary in McConnellsburg; American Legion Post #561 ladies auxiliary in McConnellsburg, and was of the Methodist faith.

She had worked at the Valley Treat, Sagner’s Sewing Factory, Fort Family Restaurant, Kay’s Place and also was a homemaker. She enjoyed camping, visiting with people, spoiling her grandchildren and having conversation with everyone. She always said “you never know unless you ask.”

In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons: Thomas E. DeShong Jr., McConnellsburg; and Matthew J. (husband of Tiona) DeShong, Buffalo, N.Y.; a daughter, Nancy J. (wife of Kevin) Harris, McConnellsburg; grandchildren: Wyatt Sinjin DeShong, Zackary DeShong, Kimberly Harris and Persephonie DeShong; three sisters; and one brother.

She was preceded in death by one brother.

Services were held at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 30. Pastor Robin Baer officiated. Interment was private at the convenience of the family.
