A crash occurred at the intersection of Rock Hill Road and Great Cove Road on June 16 at 1:49 a.m. According to state police, an individual in a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica suffered a diabetic attack as they were traveling North on Route 522. The individual could not remember who or where they were or what had happened. The vehicle left the right side of the roadway, striking a guiderail along the east side of the roadway and flattening both tires on the right side of the vehicle. The operator was able to drive the vehicle off to the left side of the roadway at which time a passing motorist was able to contact the police.


A DUI occurred on the 200 block of Lincoln Way West in McConnellsburg on May 27 at 1:58 p.m. State police were conducting a traffic stop when they found Brittany Herzberg, 26, Mc- Connellsburg, under the influence. She was taken to Fulton County Medical Center for a blood draw. Charges were filed through District Court 39-4-02.


A crash occurred on Great Cove Road less than a mile south of Rock Hill Road on June 14 at 8:09 a.m. According to state police, Janay Seville, 18, Big Cove Tannery, was talking on the phone and wiping off a windshield when the 2001 Buick Century went off the right side of the road and hit gravel off the shoulder of the roadway. She then swerved left to correct the action and lost control. The Century spun around, across the left side of the roadway and off the roadway. The vehicle then hit a telephone pole. Seville became pinned in the vehicle while wearing a seat belt but was freed by mechanical means by Mc- Connellsburg Volunteer Fire Co. Seville was then flown to a hospital in Winchester, Va.


A DUI occurred on East Polar Street on June 2 at 11:05 p.m. According to state police a 25-year-old male from McConnellsburg was found exhibiting signs of intoxication during a traffic stop at the above address and was subsequently arrested for DUI. Charges are pending.


A crash occurred on Buck Valley Road just west of Mays Chapel Road on June 12 at 10 p.m. According to state police, a 17-year old female from Warfordsburg was traveling west when she traveled off the right side of the roadway into the gravel. The driver then over-corrected, causing her 2006 Mercury Milan to travel across both lanes, skidding sideways. The Milan then traveled into grass off the south side of the roadway, causing it to roll over. The vehicle came to an uncontrolled rest off the south side of Buck Valley Road. No further information was provided.


A burglary occurred onthe 400 block of Peach Orchard Road sometime between May 1 and June 1. According to state police, a Glock 17 with an extended mag was stolen from a female. If anyone has information regarding the incident, please contact Trooper Speigle at 717-485-3131.

Identity Theft

An identity theft occurred on the 14000 block of Great Cove Road June 4 at 11:50 a.m. According to state police, attempted purchases were made in other states using an identity belonging to a 26-year old female from McConnellsburg. No purchases were made.


A harassment occurred at 26207 Great Cove Rd. on May 20 at 5 p.m.According to state police, an argument turned physical when a 53- year-old male from Waynesboro pushed a 55-year-old female from McConnellsburg. Charges were filed through 39-4-02 District Court.

Sobriety Checkpoint

This notice is to alert the public that a sobriety checkpoint will be conducted by the PA State Police within Fulton County in the coming weeks. Motorists that encounter the checkpoint will be stopped briefly. Where there is an indication that a driver has consumed alcohol or controlled substances, or committed any other violation of the law, the occupants may be detained for further investigation. Primary emphasis will be on driving-under-the-influence violations, but all laws will be enforced.
