Bishop Receives State FFA Award

McConnellsburg FFA member Logan Bishop received a state proficiency award last week at Pennsylvania FFA’s State Activities Week Conference. Logan received the award in the area of agriculture mechanics repair and maintenance in recognition for the skills he has learned while working at grandfather Duncan Batdorff’s repair shop. He is the son of Kirby and Amy Bishop of McConnellsburg.

Bishop prepared an extensive application in the spring outlining the skills he had learned while working at his grandfather’s shop for the past three years. He described how he learned the skills needed to diagnose and repair lawn mower engines from his grandfather. Selection for the state award was based on the thorough description of the skills he has acquired. His application will be reviewed by National FFA to receive a national award in the fall.

Logan’s passion for engines has also directed his career decisions. He is a graduate of McConnellsburg High School and has completed the welding course at Fulton County Area Vocational Technical School. He will continue his studies in the fall in diesel mechanics, with plans to run his grandfather’s repair shop when he retires.
