Meals Available Once a month volunteers pack up boxes of food to be given to anyone in need in the Waterfall area. Pickup is at Center United Methodist Church community building on Doran Road, Waterfall. More information may be obtained by calling 814-685-3780. Calls will be kept strictly confidential.

Hunter-Trapper Class A Pennsylvania Game Commission Hunter Trapper Education training class will be held Saturday, June 23, at the DCNR District Forestry building located north of McConnellsburg off Route 522. The class will begin at 8 a.m. sharp, so students need to arrive by 7:45 a.m., to receive class materials. Students must bring a packed lunch as no lunch is provided. Class will conclude at approximately 3 p.m., and parents need not remain with the students. Scouts Accepting Members Troop 43, chartered by the United Presbyterian Church of McConnellsburg, is accepting boys age 11-17. Summer Feeding Program The summer feeding program will run through Friday, August 17, at Central Fulton High School cafeteria. During the summer, all children ages 18 and under, regardless of income status, can come between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. for a free breakfast and between the hours of 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., for a free lunch.

Scout Raffle Drawing The Scout raffle drawing to benefit Needmore Boy Scout Troop 45 and the community center will be held Saturday, July 14, at Gordon’s Cruise-in on Rte. 522 in Needmore at 7 p.m. Tickets will be on sale from 6 p.m. until the drawing.

RECREATION

Community Movie Night Community Movie Night will be held Friday, June 22, on McConnell Park lawn at the courthouse. Games and activities start at 8 p.m. and the movie “Wonder” begins at dark. Bring a blanket. In case of inclement weather event will be held at the alumni building.

Cambree 5K The second annual Can’t Catch Cambree 5K color run/walk will be held Saturday, June 30. Race time is 9 a.m. and registration opens at 7 a.m. Preregister by June 16 to receive a shirt. Help spread awareness about Arthrogryposis and walk/run for all the children who are unable to. For more information or to register contact 717-658-3030 or 717-331-5827.

Senior Center Social Night Warfordsburg Senior Center will host a senior social night Saturday, June 30. Seniors 60 and older come and enjoy an evening of DJ music. Bring a covered dish; meat is furnished by the club. Meal is at 5 p.m. Music will start shortly after. For more information call 717- 294-6020.

Car Show All are invited to attend the annual car show at Calvary Independent Baptist Church in McConnellsburg June 23 (raindate is June 30) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be plenty of food, fun and fellowship. Special music, painting classes, petting zoo for the children and many prizes to be given away. More information may be obtained by calling 717-485-4745.

Fatherhood Initiative Come beat the heat with the Fulton County Fatherhood Initiative at Saunderosa July 13, at 5 p.m., for a free swim and light refreshments.

Custer's Last Stand Author Steve French will present an illustrated talk on The Battle of Little Big Horn on the battle’s 142nd anniversary, Monday, June 25, at 6:30 p.m., in the community room of the Fulton County Library. Free event. Light refreshments. Everyone welcome to attend.

Scavenger Hunt Join in for a scavenger hunt June 22 at McConnellsburg United Presbyterian Church. Arrive at 5:30 p.m. and hunt from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the MUPC basement, corner of South Second and Maple streets, McConnellsburg. This is a community scavenger hunt so transportation will be required. An all-ages event with prizes awarded. Enjoy treats following the hunt. Country Music Night Breezewood Volunteer Fire Co. will host a country western music night featuring local band Country Tradition Saturday, July 7, from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Doors and kitchen open at 5:30 p.m. Enjoy an evening of 60s, 70s and 80s country music. Cover charge is $5 per person with proceeds to benefit the fire company. Food and drink will be sold; no alcoholic beverages are permitted. Watch Facebook page for updates and/or more information.

Niagara Falls Trip Modern Woodmen of America Camp 7948 will sponsor a bus trip to Niagara Falls Saturday, July 28. Bus departs from the courthouse at 5 a.m. with a stop at Peebles Plaza in Huntingdon if needed for pickup. Estimated arrival in Niagara Falls is 12:15 p.m. Depart at 7 p.m. Estimated arrival back in McConnellsburg is 2 a.m. Cost is $50 per person. For more information call 888-623-6719. Car Show McConnellsburg Alumni Association will present a car show June 30 at the alumni building paved parking lots at 151 East Cherry Street. Registration is from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Cars, trucks, ATVs, tractors, motorcycles lawn mowers, any motor-driven vehicle. More than 67 trophies will be presented. A $10 entry fee for each vehicle. First 100 entries will receive dash plaques. Breakfast, lunch, oldie music, drawings and Chinese auction. Held rain or shine. For more information contact Richard Miller at 717-485-3412. Features top three mopars, mostly judged show. Show will be in memory of the late Preston Carbaugh, a longtime car lover.

FOOD AND DINING

Free Lunch Lunch will be served every first Friday of each month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at McConnellsburg United Methodist Faith and Life Center, across from the courthouse. Parking available behind the church. Soup, sandwiches, salad bar, potato bar and dessert bar are served. Dine-in or carryouts with donations accepted.

Chicken BBQ Needmore Fire Co. will hold a chicken barbecue June 24. Dinners are $10 and 1/2 chicken for $7. For more information call 717-494-2917 or day of dinner call 717-573-2379.

No Free Meal There will be no free meal served at St. Paul Luthern Church in July. See all in August.

Potpie Dinner A ham potpie dinner will be held at Warfordsburg Presbyterian Faith Center June 23, from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Donations accepted. Proceeds benefit church capital fund. For more information call 717-294-3208.

Ice Cream Festivals Fairview United Methodist Church will hold ice cream festivals July 21 and September 15. The church is located four miles north of Hustontown on North Hess Road. Homemade ice cream, soups, sandwiches, french fries and desserts will be for sale. Festivals begin at 4 p.m.

RELIGION

Bible School New Grenada Church of God will hold Bible School Sunday, June 24, to Thursday, June 28, at 6:30 p.m. in the evening. For questions or to let us know you’re coming call 818-685-3399. All are welcome.

Bible School Cito United Methodist Church will hold Vacation Bible School July 9-13 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. There will be fun activities for ages 5-12 years with singing, a Bible lesson, games, crafts and snacks. Worship Services St. Paul’s Luthern Church, Big Cove Tannery and St. Paul Church in McConnellsburg, June calendar: June 21 and 22 – Willing Workers food/yard sale; June 24 – fifth Sunday after Pentecost regular worship.

Special Music Heaven Bound will be appearing at Antioch Christian Church, Timber Ridge Road, Big Cove Tannery, at 9 a.m., July 1. Pastor Russ Hoffman and congregation invite all to join in for a special presentaiton of gospel music during the worship hour.

HEALTH

Narcotics Anonymous Meets two times per week in Mc- Connellsburg. NA is a nonprofit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. Members share their successes and challenges in overcoming active addiction and living drug-free, productive lives through the application of the principles contained within the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of NA (patterned after Alcoholics Anonymous.) Anyone is welcome no matter what is used or how big the desire to stop using is. Sundays at 7 p.m. in Fulton County Medical Center Wellness Center, 294 Lincoln Way West (old Dollar General); Thursdays at 7 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 228 North Second Street, Mc- Connellsburg (down the outside stairs). Memory Loss Support Group A memory loss support group meets the third Tuesday monthly, at 6 p.m., in the Pearl Room at Fulton County Medical Center. Please use the south entrance. For more information call 717-485-6108.

Save A Life Program Fulton County Family Partnership COPE program can teach you how to save a life on July 13, at 11 a.m., in the Pearl Room at Fulton County Medical Center. Lean about opioid overdose and what to do when faced with this situation. Receive free Narcan and certificate for participating in the session.

Nutrition Class Fulton County nutrition awareness classes are held at Warfordsburg Senior Center on the third Monday of every month from 10:30 a.m. to noon. When the third Monday is a holiday, the class is held the fourth Monday. To register or sign up for lunch call 717-294-6020.

Autism Support Group Autism support group meets the last Tuesday of the month quarterly at 6 p.m. Call Lauren Everetts 717-485-6107 for details.

Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held every Monday morning at 11 a.m. (even holidays), at Fulton County Medical Center Community Health and Wellness building located at 294 Lincoln Way West and every Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the basement of McConnellsburg alumni building, 301 East Maple Street. Both are open meetings and anyone can attend.

MEETINGS

Historical Society Meeting Fulton County Historical Society’s summer membership meeting will be held June 30, at 7 p.m., at the FCHS museum annex banquet room, located at the rear of the museum annex with parking available at Mc- Connellsburg Firehall parking lot. The speaker will be Russell Love, who has been researching the South Pennsylvania Railroad for the last 15 years. The South Pennsylvania Railroad was to cross over and tunnel through multiple mountains and traverse over rivers, to include Fulton County. Despite much work done to create the beds to lay the rail ties, the line was never completed. Love will present his years of research on what is called the Railroad That Never Was. Maps and illustrations will show where the route was started and work was completed. This meeting is open to the public. If you are interested in the history of railroads in southern PA and Fulton County, you don’t want to miss this presentation.

Garden Club Meeting North End Garden Club will meet June 26, at 11 a.m., at the home of Linda Garber.

Crawford/Rohm Reunion The Pearl Crawford and Clyde Rohm reunion will be held June 24, at 1 p.m., at Indian Grave Road, Amaranth. Call 717-573-4178 for more details.

Swope Reunion The descendants of Andrew and Iola Swope will hold their 60th annual reunion Sunday, June 24, at Pleasant Ridge Nazarene dining hall. Lunch will be held at 1 p.m. Bring a covered dish. Remind all family members, friends and neighbors to join in this time together. Let’s make this a large reunion. Bring photos of past events.

Mellott Reunion The descendants of Clarence, Thornton and Mabel Mellott will hold the annual reunion at the home of Donald Snyder on Beatty Road in Needmore Sunday, July 1. Lunch will be at 1 p.m. Bring a covered dish. Friends and neighbors are always welcome. Plan to attend.

Hann Reunion The annual Hann reunion will be held Sunday, July 1, at Sideling Hill Christian Church, 10424 Sipes Mill Road, Needmore. The reunion begins at 12:30 p.m., followed by lunch at 1 p.m. Bring a covered dish and own tableware and drinks. Also bring wrapped items for bid to the White Elephant auction, games and genealogy information and photos to share.
