Indians To Vie For PIAA Championship

It took the Indians just five innings to shut out Sayre 11-0 Monday afternoon in the PIAA Class A semifinals at Bellfonte, Pa. The win advances Southern Fulton (22- 4) to the state championship game Friday at State College. They will play Vincentian Academy 10:30 a.m. at Medlar Field, Lubrano Park, Penn State University.

Southern Fulton (21-4) advanced to the PIAA “A” Final Four with a convincing 9-1 victory over High Point Baptist at Northern York High School June 7. The Indians were led by starting pitcher Branden “Big Country” Lynch’s complete game four- hitter with 7 strikeouts.

The Indians started the action by pushing three runs across in the second inning thanks to Tyler Unger’s two-run single. Unger finished the day 3-4 with three RBIs. Dylan Melton also collected three hits on the day, and Josh Stocker and Cooper Grove shared a multi-hit day for the Indians.

The Indians entered the final 4 for only the third time in school history.
