Solomon E. Keefer

Mercersburg, 65

Solomon Ellsworth Keefer, 65, Mercersburg, died Saturday, June 2, 2018, at his home with his family by his side.

He was born in Chambersburg, August 18, 1952, the son of the late Ellsworth and the late Anna Mary Keefer.

He grew up in the Arendtsville area where he attended school. Aside from his family, his greatest passion was music. He was the lead guitarist and singer of Solomon and the Kings in the late 1970s. Even after the band quit playing, music was still his passion. He attended New Life Church in Mercersburg.

He is survived by two children: Lisa Keefer, Mercersburg, and Billy (husband of Stephanie) Keefer, Shippensburg; two stepchildren, Katelyn and Jeffrey Bradley Jr., Saint Thomas; several grandchildren: Hunter Gage Norton, Ariel Renee Norton and Abegale Sierrha Keefer, all of Mercersburg; and Eli and Relila Mathes-Keefer, both of Shippensburg; Noaha and Skylia Bradley, Mercersburg; Brandon Rockwell, Mercersburg; Terry Young, Mercersburg; Myia O’Donald Tanner, Chambersburg, and one great-grandchild, Olivia Grace Young, Mercersburg; five siblings: Mary Sherrod, Hanover; Gloria Adams, Shippensburg; Debbie Bookwalk, McConnellsburg; Shirley Smelser, Hanover, and Hank Keefer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Anna Belle Rhoades; and two brothers: Elvis and Herman Harry Keefer.

Memorial services were held Saturday, June 16, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Waynesboro. Pastor Pam officiated.
