Meals Available Once a month volunteers pack up boxes of food to be given to anyone in need in the Waterfall area. Pickup is at Center United Methodist Church community building on Doran Road, Waterfall. More information may be obtained by calling 814-685-3780. Calls will be kept strictly confidential.

Hunter-Trapper Class A Pennsylvania Game Commission Hunter Trapper Education training class will be held Saturday, June 23, at the DCNR District Forestry building located north of McConnellsburg off Route 522. The class will begin at 8 a.m. sharp, so students need to arrive by 7:45 a.m., to receive class materials. Students must bring a packed lunch as no lunch is provided. Class will conclude at approximately 3 p.m., and parents need not remain with the students. Work Sites Offered Employment and Training, Inc. of Fulton County is recruiting for out-of-school youths ages 16-24 for the work experience program. Individuals will be placed at host work sites fitting to his/her interests and must meet WIOA eligibility to participate. All jobs are with local employers for 30 hours per week at $8 per hour. Scouts Accepting Members Troop 43, chartered by the United Presbyterian Church of McConnellsburg, is accepting boys age 11-17. Summer Feeding Program The summer feeding program will begin Monday, June 4, and run through Friday, August 17, at Central Fulton High School cafeteria. During the summer, all children ages 18 and under, regardless of income status, can come between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. for a free breakfast and between the hours of 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., for a free lunch.

Relay For Life Relay For Life will be held June 15, from 3 p.m. to midnight, at McConnellsburg High School track. Survivors reception will be held in the high school cafeteria at 6 p.m. Luminaria ceremony will be held at 9 p.m. There will be lots of raffle items for participants and the public with the drawing to be held at 10 p.m. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. Cambree 5K The second annual Can’t Catch Cambree 5K color run/walk will be held Saturday, June 30. Race time is 9 a.m. and registration opens at 7 a.m. Preregister by June 16 to receive a shirt. Youth Field Day The 2018 Fulton County Sportsmen for Youth Field Day will be held Saturday, June 9, at Camp Sinoquipe, Ft. Littleton. The field day will begin with a free T-shirt and participant check-in from 7 a.m. until 8 a.m. A light breakfast and lunch will be served to participants and parents. Hands-on activities include archery; .22 rifle, shotgun and black powder rifle shooting; Cherokee run; fishing; fly tying; waterfowl retrieving; furtaker trapping; wild turkey hunting; and whitetail deer antler measurement, just to name a few. Strawberry Festival The 28th annual Strawberry Festival is on schedule for Friday and Saturday, June 8 and June 9. Activities begin at 10 a.m. each day. Good food and fellowship every day. Friday features popular country music recording artist Glen Shelton performing at 7 p.m., on the bandshell stage. Saturday features old-fashioned band concert by Mercersburg Community Band at noon. Saturday morning kicks off with the 5K Strawberry Stampede Run/Walk. Children’s activities, handcrafted products and information booths plus delicious strawberry shortcake, pies, waffles and other treats.

Bike Ride Team No One Fights Alone will hold a bike ride Saturday, June 9, at Harpers Memorial Park, Shade Gap. Registration is from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and kick stands up at noon. Food will be provided after the ride. Cost is $20 per bike and $10 for passenger. Cars are welcome to participate at $20 per car. Post 518 will hold a dance with “SOS” from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Madden Winnick Post 518, Orbisonia. If not riding but want to attend and enjoy the entertainment at the post after the ride, a donation of $10 is appreciated. Mic Night Mic Night will be held at Warfordsburg Senior Center June 9, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Kitchen opens at 4 p.m. Food and drink will be available. Monetary donations are appreciated. Everyone is welcome. For more information call 717-294-6020.

RECREATION

Kids Day Out A kids day out will be held Saturday, June 9, from 10 a.m. top 4 p.m., at Celebrations Unlimited Building, 27994 Great Cove Road, Fort Littleton. A one-of-a-kind fun day experience for children. Ice cream, face painting, twisted balloons, vendors, games and much more.

Scavenger Hunt Join in for a scavenger hunt June 22 at McConnellsburg United Presbyterian Church. Arrive at 5:30 p.m. and hunt from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the MUPC basement, corner of South Second and Maple streets, McConnellsburg. This is a community scavenger hunt so transportation will be required. An all-ages event with prizes awarded. Enjoy treats following the hunt. Country Music Night Breezewood Volunteer Fire Co. will host a country western music night featuring local band Country Tradition Saturday, July 7, from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Doors and kitchen open at 5:30 p.m. Enjoy an evening of 60s, 70s and 80s country music. Cover charge is $5 per person with proceeds to benefit the fire company. Food and drink will be sold; no alcoholic beverages are permitted. Watch Facebook page for updates and/or more information.

Niagara Falls Trip Modern Woodmen of America Camp 7948 will sponsor a bus trip to Niagara Falls Saturday, July 28. Bus departs from Mcconnell’s courthouse at 5 a.m. with a stop at Peebles Plaza in Huntingdon if needed for pickup. Estimated arrival in Niagara Falls is 12:15 p.m. Depart at 7 p.m. Estimated arrival back in McConnellsburg is 2 a.m. Cost is $50 per person. For more information call 888-623-6719. Soccer Registration McConnellsburg AYSO fall soccer registration will be held June 8, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and June 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the Strawberry Festival at Mc- Connellsburg square by United Methodist Church. Open Mic Night Cancelled McConnellsburg Senior Center Open Mic Night will be cancelled for Monday, June 11. Cancellation is only for June.

Car Show McConnellsburg Alumni Association will present a car show June 30 at the alumni building paved parking lots at 151 East Cherry Street. Registration is from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Cars, trucks, ATVs, tractors, motorcycles lawn mowers, any motor-driven vehicle. More than 67 trophies will be presented. A $10 entry fee for each vehicle. First 100 entries will receive dash plaques. Breakfast, lunch, oldie music, drawings and Chinese auction. Held rain or shine. For more information contact Richard Miller at 717-485-3412. New York City Trip Modern Woodmen of America, Camp 7848, is sponsoring an on-your-own trip to New York City June 9. Price is $50 per person which includes a buffet breakfast. Pickup at McConnellsburg courthouse at 6 a.m. Estimated arrival in New York is 11:15 a.m. near Macy’s. Leave New York at 6:15 p.m., near Times Square. Free Lunch Lunch will be served every first Friday of each month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at McConnellsburg United Methodist Faith and Life Center, across from the courthouse. Parking available behind the church. Soup, sandwiches, salad bar, potato bar and dessert bar are served. Dine-in or carryouts with donations accepted.

Chicken BBQ/Car Show A chicken barbecue and car show will be held Saturday, June 9, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Hixon Bible Camp, 3472 McKees Gap Road, Warfordsburg, Amaranth exit off I-70. Live music by Kenny Fetterman of Bedford at noon. Chicken dinners are $8 and include half a chicken, baked beans, applesauce, roll, butter, dessert and drink.

Survivors Dinner A survivors dinner for the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life will be held Friday, June 15, at 6 p.m., in McConnellsburg High School cafeteria. Free Meal A free meal will be served the second Tuesday of each month at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 North Third Street. Please join in for good fellowship.

Special Services Come out for an evening of worship Saturday, June 16, at 6 p.m., at Pleasant Ridge Campground, 5807 Pleasant Ridge Road, Harrisonville. Bible School Vacation Bible School will be held at Fairview United Methodist Church, Harrisonville, June 11-15, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Monday thru Thursday and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday with a program at 7:15 p.m. The theme is Camp Moose On The Loose. White Church Service The annual service at the Union Cemetery White Church will be held June 17. Rev. Dale Williams, McConnellsburg United Presbyterian Church, will lead the worship service, which will begin at 10 a.m. All are welcome to worship in this historic site.

Narcotics Anonymous Meets two times per week in Mc- Connellsburg. NA is a nonprofit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. Members share their successes and challenges in overcoming active addiction and living drug-free, productive lives through the application of the principles contained within the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of NA (patterned after Alcoholics Anonymous.) Anyone is welcome no matter what is used or how big the desire to stop using is. Nutrition Class Fulton County nutrition awareness classes are held at Warfordsburg Senior Center on the third Monday of every month from 10:30 a.m. to noon. When the third Monday is a holiday, the class is held the fourth Monday. To register or sign up for lunch call 717-294-6020.

Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held every Monday morning at 11 a.m. (even holidays), at Fulton County Medical Center Community Health and Wellness building located at 294 Lincoln Way West and every Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the basement of Mc- Connellsburg alumni building, 301 East Maple Street. Both are open meetings and anyone can attend.

REUNIONS

MHS Reunion McConnellsburg High School Class of 1968 will still be taking RSVPs until June 9 for their 50th class reunion.

Legion Meeting American Legion Post 561 active members regular meeting is the first Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. Auxiliary members meet the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. SAL meeting is the first Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. Members of the organizations are urged to attend.

BINGO
