Esther L. Webb

Esther Lee Warthin Webb, 83, died Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at Bethany Village, Mechanicsburg, Pa., after her battle with cancer.

She was born April 23, 1939, to William and Blanche Warthin in McConnellsburg.

She married the “love of her life” Gen. Hamilton B. Webb, M.D., on February 19, 1977. She graduated from McConnellsburg High School and from Thomas Jefferson University, College of Nursing, where she received the nickname, Effervescent Adolescent. She went on to work at Jefferson as a surgical nurse.

She was an avid golfer and tennis player. She enjoyed reading and shopping. She and her husband travelled to Europe, Sri Lanka and all over the US. Shortly after they were married they moved to Saudi Arabia for 15 months, where Dr. Webb planned the medical unit for a military hospital.

She is survived by her brothers: William Warthin, husband of Betty, and Larry Warthin, husband of Joyce; sisters: Freda Cromer and Lucille Warthin; four stepdaughters: Polly Webb, Dorothy Webb, Daphne Webb and Penny Armstrong; nieces and nephews; and step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her husband; one sister, Connie Colman, and one stepdaughter, Pam Webb.

Donations can be made to Kindred Hospice of Camp Hill, Pa., Maplewood Assisted Living at Bethany Village, Mechanicsburg, or the charity of one’s choice.
