FCMC Hires CEO

Fulton County Medical Center Board of Directors has appointed Michael D. Makosky, FACHE, as chief executive officer (CEO) and will begin his employment before July 1. Originally from Portage, Pa., Makosky most recently came from Williamson Memorial Hospital in Williamson, W.Va., where he has been serving as interim CEO for the past six months. He has spent many years in healthcare with progressively increasing responsibilities.

“It is with great pleasure, as chairman of the board I can announce that we have hired Michael Makosky as our new CEO. Michael’s many years of experience as CEO of both not-for-profit and for-profit hospitals will ensure we continue to move ahead in our goals to be provider of choice for healthcare in Fulton County. The board would like to thank the Foundation, auxiliary, and executive team at FCMC for all their valuable input in this selection process as well as extend our appreciation to Kimberly Slee, chief operating officer (COO), and Deborah Shughart, chief financial officer (CFO), for stepping in as interim chief executive officers. They provided quality leadership and facilitated a smooth transition though the recruiting process,” said FCMC Board Chair Clarence “Sonny” Weicht.
