Rabies Clinic Better Days Animal League Thrift Store, Fort Loudon, across from Milky Way Restaurant, will hold a rabies, distemper and microchip clinic June 2 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Cost is cash only. Rabies Clinic A rabies vaccination clinic will be held Saturday, June 2, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Wells Tannery Community Park. Cost is $10/animal. Other vaccines, wormers, flea product and microchpis will be available. Booster shots given with presentation of prior vaccination certificate. Dog license and toenail trimming also available. Proceeds benefit Wells Valley Presbyterian Church.

Meals Available Once a month volunteers pack up boxes of food to be given to anyone in need in the Waterfall area. Pickup is at Center United Methodist Church community building on Doran Road, Waterfall. More information may be obtained by calling 814-685-3780. Calls will be kept strictly confidential.

Hunter-Trapper Class A Pennsylvania Game Commission Hunter Trapper Education training class will be held Saturday, June 23, at the DCNR District Forestry building located north of McConnellsburg off Route 522. The class will begin at 8 a.m. sharp, so students need to arrive by 7:45 a.m., to receive class materials. Students must bring a packed lunch as no lunch is provided. Class will conclude at approximately 3 p.m., and parents need not remain with the students. Farmer’s Market Vouchers The Area Agency on Aging will once again be distributing Farmer’s Market vouchers at the office beginning Monday, June 4. Proxy forms are now available at senior centers and the office on aging for individuals picking up vouchers for persons unable to get vouchers for themselves. Income guidelines and dates and times that vouchers will be distributed at senior centers will be purchased by the end of May. More information may be obtained by calling 485-5151.

Summer Feeding Program The summer feeding program will begin Monday, June 4, and run through Friday, August 17, at Central Fulton High School cafeteria. During the summer, all children ages 18 and under, regardless of income status, can come between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. for a free breakfast and between the hours of 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., for a free lunch.

Blueberry Sale Fulton County 4-H Clubs are taking orders for 10-lb. boxes of large, clean blueberries for $29. Delivery is Friday, June 29. Contact a 4-H’er or call 717-325-4871 to place an order. Last day to place orders is June 6.


Relay For Life Relay For Life will be held June 15, from 3 p.m. to midnight, at McConnellsburg High School track. Survivors reception will be held in the high school cafeteria at 6 p.m. Luminaria ceremony will be held at 9 p.m. There will be lots of raffle items for participants and the public with the drawing to be held at 10 p.m. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. Youth Field Day The 2018 Fulton County Sportsmen for Youth Field Day will be held Saturday, June 9, at Camp Sinoquipe, Ft. Littleton. The field day will begin with a free T-shirt and participant check-in from 7 a.m. until 8 a.m. A light breakfast and lunch will be served to participants and parents. Hands-on activities include archery; .22 rifle, shotgun and black powder rifle shooting; Cherokee run; fishing; fly tying; waterfowl retrieving; furtaker trapping; wild turkey hunting; and whitetail deer antler measurement, just to name a few. Youth Shoots Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club will host a youth shoot Friday, May 25. This is a free event for all youths ages 16 and under. Guns and shells are provided. Registration is from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Kitchen will be open.

Lifeguard Class American Red Cross will offer a lifeguard class starting June 1, at James Buchanan High School pool. Anyone who is 15 years old and can pass the prerequisite in swimming can take the course. Any questions contact Instructor Kathy Kendall at 717-377-3643.

Strawberry Festival The 28th annual Strawberry Festival is on schedule for Friday and Saturday, June 8 and June 9. Activities begin at 10 a.m. each day. Good food and fellowship every day. Friday features popular country music recording artist Glen Shelton performing at 7 p.m., on the bandshell stage. Saturday features old-fashioned band concert by Mercersburg Community Band at noon. Saturday morning kicks off with the 5K Strawberry Stampede Run/Walk. Children’s activities, handcrafted products and information booths plus delicious strawberry shortcake, pies, waffles and other treats.

Bike Ride Team No One Fights Alone will hold a bike ride Saturday, June 9, at Harpers Memorial Park, Shade Gap. Registration is from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and kick stands up at noon. Food will be provided after the ride. Cost is $20 per bike and $10 for passenger. Cars are welcome to participate at $20 per car. Post 518 will hold a dance with “SOS” from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Madden Winnick Post 518, Orbisonia. If not riding but want to attend and enjoy the entertainment at the post after the ride, a donation of $10 is appreciated. MHS Graduation McConnellsburg High School will hold baccalaureate services May 29, at 7 p.m., and graduation services May 31, at 7 p.m., in the high school auditorium. A ticket is needed for admittance.

Fishing Rodeo Fulton County Sportsmen’s League has rescheduled its children’s fishing rodeo to May 27 because of the continued rainfall creating high and unsafe water conditions for the children to fish on Ester Run. The spring raffle and open house will be held at the rescheduled date.

Niagara Falls Trip Modern Woodmen of America Camp 7948 will sponsor a bus trip to Niagara Falls Saturday, July 28. Bus departs from Mcconnell’s courthouse at 5 a.m. with a stop at Peebles Plaza in Huntingdon if needed for pickup. Estimated arrival in Niagara Falls is 12:15 p.m. Depart at 7 p.m. Estimated arrival back in McConnellsburg is 2 a.m. Cost is $50 per person. For more information call 888-623-6719. New York City Trip Modern Woodmen of America, Camp 7848, is sponsoring an on-your-own trip to New York City June 9. Price is $50 per person which includes a buffet breakfast. Pickup at McConnellsburg courthouse at 6 a.m. Estimated arrival in New York is 11:15 a.m. near Macy’s. Leave New York at 6:15 p.m., near Times Square. Free Lunch Lunch will be served every first Friday of each month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at McConnellsburg United Methodist Faith and Life Center, across from the courthouse. Parking available behind the church. Soup, sandwiches, salad bar, potato bar and dessert bar are served. Dine-in or carryouts with donations accepted.

Ice Cream Festival An ice cream festival will be held Saturday, June 2, at 4 p.m., at Center Community Building, next to Center United Methodist Church. Served will be ham dinners, mashed potatoes, filling, gravy, corn or green beans, applesauce or cole slaw, coffee, tea, punch, hotdogs, barbecues, soup, cake, pies and ice cream. Next festival will be July 14.

Chicken BBQ/Car Show A chicken barbecue and car show will be held Saturday, June 9, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Hixon Bible Camp, 3472 McKees Gap Road, Warfordsburg, Amaranth exit off I-70. Live music by Kenny Fetterman of Bedford at noon. Chicken dinners are $8 and include half a chicken, baked beans, applesauce, roll, butter, dessert and drink.

Survivors Dinner A survivors dinner for the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life will be held Friday, June 15, at 6 p.m., in McConnellsburg High School cafeteria. Free Meal A free meal will be served the second Tuesday of each month at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 North Third Street. Please join in for good fellowship.


Vo-Tech Meeting Fulton County Area Vocational Technical School will hold an information gathering meeting to address community questions/concerns related to Forbes Road School District’s requested intent to withdraw from Fulton County Vocational Consortium. The public is invited to attend this information gathering meeting Thursday, May 24, at 7 p.m., at Hustontown Firehall.


Memorial/Homecoming Timber Ridge Cemetery Association and Antioch Christian Church invite all to its memorial and homecoming service Sunday, June 3, at 2 p.m., at Antioch Christian Church, 7902 Timber Ridge Road, Big Cove Tannery. Included will be gospel music and a memorial message by Pastor Russell Hoffman, followed by fellowship at the adjacent pavilion. Meat, beverage and table settings will be furnished. Bring favorite covered dish to share. All are welcome.

Memorial Day Service The 74th annual Memorial Day service will be held at Wells Valley United Methodist Church at 11 a.m., Monday, May 28, with Merrill Arnold as guest speaker. A light luncheon will be provided after the service.

Memorial Day Services Damascus Cemetery Association will hold its annual Memorial Day service Sunday, May 27, at 2 p.m. Guest speaker will be Pastor Terry Martin-Minnich from Hancock Presbyterian Church. Entertainment will be provided by Victory Express. There will be a covered dish lunch at noon in the church social hall. All are welcome to attend.


Special Services Come out for an evening of worship Saturday, June 16, at 6 p.m., at Pleasant Ridge Campground, 5807 Pleasant Ridge Road, Harrisonville. Be a part of what the Lord is doing in the local community and among the community of His body. Special Services Bailey’s Crossing will perform at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, 10987 Little Cove Road, Mercersburg, Sunday, June 3. They will provide special music, sponsored by Mt. Zion Union Cemetery Association, at the annual homecoming services beginning at 10 a.m. The services is held once a year to honor community graduates and longtime members. All contributions received that day, unless designated otherwise, are used for the upkeep and maintenance of the surrounding cemetery. The cemetery is maintained solely from voluntary contributions. Everyone is invited to stay for lunch immediately following services.

Bible School Vacation Bible School will be held at Fairview United Methodist Church, Harrisonville, June 11-15, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Monday thru Thursday and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday with a program at 7:15 p.m. The theme is Camp Moose On The Loose. Narcotics Anonymous Meets two times per week in Mc- Connellsburg. NA is a nonprofit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. Members share their successes and challenges in overcoming active addiction and living drug-free, productive lives through the application of the principles contained within the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of NA (patterned after Alcoholics Anonymous.) Anyone is welcome no matter what is used or how big the desire to stop using is. Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held every Monday morning at 11 a.m. (even holidays), at Fulton County Medical Center Community Health and Wellness building located at 294 Lincoln Way West and every Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the basement of Mc- Connellsburg alumni building, 301 East Maple Street. Both are open meetings and anyone can attend.
