McConnellsburg FFA held its annual awards banquet April 26, in the high school cafeteria. The chapter reviewed the year’s activities, presented awards to members, honored community members who have helped this past year and elected its officers for the 2018-2019 school year.

Members were honored for participation in FFA events, degrees and awards received. Seniors Taylor Bishop and Logan Bishop received the Keystone FFA Degree, while Taylor was awarded the Regional Star in ag business in January, and Logan received a state proficiency award in agriculture mechanics design and fabrication.

In addition, several members were recognized for receiving the Area, Chapter, Greenhand and Discovery degrees. A complete list of recipients is on the high school Web site.

Community members and local businesses donated FFA jackets to FFA members. Community members are Jan Hoover, Barry Bivens, Denny Seville and Shoemaker Insurance. Members who received jackets were Megan Bishop, Liberty Crouse, Abigail Orth and McKenna Hoffman.

Marlin Lynch was presented with McConnellsburg’s honorary chapter degree for the many ways he supports the chapter. More than 25 other community members were honored for their service to the chapter throughout the night.

The final business held was the installation of the 2018-2019 chapter officers. They are: president – Logan Abbott; vice president – Landon Bishop; treasurer – Megan Bishop; and secretary – Harlee Souders.

“I am honored to be able to serve as an FFA officer for our chapter,” stated incoming President Logan Abbott. “I am looking forward to having fun with our members next year.”
