Food Basket Gardening Program Begins

With help of McConnellsburg Motor & Implement
SPECIAL TO THE NEWS

There’s nothing like fresh produce from a garden. The Fulton County Food Basket (FCFB) has been working to provide its clients the opportunity to grow fresh produce and provide nutritious food for their families.

Each spring, the Fulton County Food Basket sponsors the Community Gardening Program. Garden plots, seeds, fertilizer, and plants are provided with the assistance of other local businesses and organizations to those who are interested in growing their own produce and may not have the means and/or necessities to do so. Participants grow food for themselves and have been known to donate the excess back to the Food Basket.

This year, McConnellsburg Motor & Implement has donated a surplus of seeds to the Food Basket for the use of its clientele. From their donation, approximately 124 individuals and families have been served.

The Fulton County Food Basket has been helping more families than ever and greatly appreciate every form of donation and support. The Food Basket accepts donations of excess garden produce and welcomes community service volunteers and donations. To donate time, talents or money, please contact the Fulton County Food Basket at 717-485-5688 or PO Box 512, McConnellsburg, PA 17233.
