Graves To Be Decorated Fulton County Honor Guard will be decorating veterans graves at Union Cemetery at 1 p.m. May 17 for anyone wishing to help.

Estate Planning Elder law attorney Tom Murphy will be at Warfordsburg Senior Center May 10, to discuss estate planning and related topics. Rabies Clinic A rabies vaccination clinic will be held Saturday, June 2, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Wells Tannery Community Park. Cost is $10/animal. Other vaccines, wormers, flea product and microchpis will be available. Booster shots given with presentation of prior vaccination certificate. Dog license and toe nail trimming also available. Proceeds benefit Wells Valley Presbyterian Church.

Work Sites Offered Employment and Training, Inc. of Fulton County is recruiting for out-of-school youths ages 16-24 for the work experience program. Individuals will be placed at host work sites fitting to his/her interests and must meet WIOA eligibility to participate. All jobs are with local employers for 30 hours per week at $8 per hour. School Registration Hope Christian Academy is accepting applications for the 2018-2019 school year. Kindergarten through sixth grade is offered. HCA is located at 23170 Great Cove Road, McConnellsburg, along Route 522. Call 717-375-5078 for a registration packet. Registration fee is $50 per student through May. Beginning June 1 the fee is $75 per student. After August 1, the fee is $100 per student.

Cemetery Cleanup Pleasant Ridge Nazarene Cemetery in Harrisonville will hold cleanup day Saturday, May 12, at 8 a.m. All volunteers are welcome and urged to participate.

Meals Available Once a month volunteers pack up boxes of food to be given to anyone in need in the Waterfall area. Pickup is at Center United Methodist Church community building on Doran Road, Waterfall. More information may be obtained by calling 814-685-3780. Calls will be kept strictly confidential.

Olla Workshop Penn State Extension Master Gardeners will hold a workshop on Olla Saturday, May 19, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the extension office, 610 East North Street, Mc- Connellsburg. Cost is $25. To register call 717-325-4871. Master Gardener Bridgit Martin has used this ancient method of watering for years. Learn about the history of ollas and how they support root health and protect leaves from fungus. All participants will have an opportunity to make and take an olla for use in home gardens.

Cemetery Cleanup Day Pleasant Ridge Nazarene Cemetery, Harrisonville, will have clean up day Saturday, May 12, starting at 8 a.m. Anyone owning a lot or have family buried there, please consider coming. If able, please bring mowers, weedeaters, shoves, rakes or any lawn equipment.

Book Sale More than 60,000 new and used books of all types plus CDs, DVDs, audio books, puzzles, board games and artwork will be offered for sale at the 34th annual Friends of Legal Services book sale at Laird Hall on the Wilson College campus in Chambersburg May 18 and 19. Hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, May 18; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, May 19; and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 20.

Scouts Accepting Members Troop 43, chartered by the United Presbyterian Church of McConnellsburg, is accepting boys age 11-17. Blueberry Sale Fulton County 4-H Clubs are taking orders for 10-lb. boxes of large, clean blueberries for $29. Delivery is Friday, June 29. Contact a 4-H’er or call 717-325-4871 to place an order. Last day to place orders is June 6.

RECREATION

Youth Shoots Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club will host youth shoots Friday, May 11, 18 and 25. This is a free event for all youths ages 16 and under. Guns and shells are provided. Registration is from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Kitchen will be open.

Fishing Rodeo There will be a Fishers Of Men fishing tournament Saturday, May 19, at Sinoquipe Boy Scout Camp, 677 Boy Scout Road, Fort Littleton. There also will be a .22 shoot, prizes and pig roast. Beginning at 2 p.m. will be a time of worship and hearing from God’s word around a campfire. Registration will start at 1 p.m. at the front gate of the scout camp.

Lifegurad Recertification Recertification for all lifeguards will be Saturday, May 12, or Saturday, May 19, at 9: a.m. Recertification for all who hold current cards for lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescurer and AED will be done at James Buchanan High School pool. Cambree 5K The second annual Can’t Catch Cambree 5k color run/walk will be held Saturday, June 30. Race time is 9 a.m. and registration opens at 7 a.m. Pre-register by June 16 to receive a shirt. Strawberry Festival Fulton County Chamber of Commerce and Tourism will hold a strawberry festival June 8, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and June 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the courthouse lawn and West Market Street, McConnellsburg. Available will be strawberry shortcake, pies, waffles and other treats along with vendors and children’s activities. Friday night will be country music recording artist Glen Shelton from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday will be the Shooting Stars majorette group at 11 a.m. and Mercersburg Community Band will perform at noon.

Indoor Yard Sale North End Garden Club will hold an indoor yard sale in the library community room Friday, May 18 at 8:30 a.m.

Niagara Falls Trip Modern Woodmen of America Camp 7948 will sponsor a bus trip to Niagara Falls Saturday, July 28. Bus departs from McConnellsburg courthouse at 5 a.m. with a stop at Peebles Plaza in Huntingdon if needed for pickup. Gun Bash Hancock Fire Co. will hold a spring gun bash Saturday, May 19, at the fire and rescue property on Sensel Road. Cost is $20 per ticket. Fishing Rodeo Fulton County Sportsmen’s League will hold its annual open house and fishing rodeo for children 12 and younger at the trout nursery Sunday, May 20. Registration for the children will start at 10 a.m. Adults are permitted to assist children to bait the hook and net the fish. Adults are not permitted to fish on this section of stream at any time. This is a special regulation stream for children 12 years of age and younger only. Register children at the desk beside the food stand in order to be eligible for door prizes and to receive a handout listing the rules. Fishing will begin at noon and the drawing for the annual spring raffle will be at 3 p.m. A special door prize raffle for a wooden fishing art plaque will be held. Purchase tickets at the clothing and raffle table. Winning tickets will be drawn at 3 p.m. The food stand, operated by the Sportsmen Club, will have a variety of food available.

Open Mic Night McConnellsburg Senior Center will hold an Open Mic Night Monday, May 14, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The public is invited and food will be available.

MHS Graduation McConnellsburg High School will hold baccalaureate services May 29, at 7 p.m., and graduation services May 31, at 7 p.m., in the high school auditorium. A ticket is needed for admittance.

New York City Trip Modern Woodmen of America, Camp 7848, is sponsoring an on-your-own trip to New York City June 9. Price is $50 per person which includes a buffet breakfast. Pickup at McConnellsburg courthouse at 6 a.m. Estimated arrival in New York is 11:15 a.m. near Macy’s. Leave New York at 6:15 p.m., near Times Square. Memory Loss Support Group A memory loss support group meets the third Tuesday monthly, at 6 p.m., in the Pearl Room at Fulton County Medical Center. Please use the south entrance. For more information call 717-485-6108.

Nutrition Class Fulton County nutrition awareness classes are held at Warfordsburg Senior Center on the third Monday of every month from 10:30 a.m. to noon. When the third Monday is a holiday, the class is held the fourth Monday. To register or sign up for lunch call 717-294-6020.

Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held every Monday morning at 11 a.m. (even holidays), at Fulton County Medical Center Community Health and Wellness building located at 294 Lincoln Way West and every Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the basement of McConnellsburg alumni building, 301 East Maple Street. Both are open meetings and anyone can attend.

Narcotics Anonymous Meets two times per week in Mc- Connellsburg. NA is a nonprofit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. Members share their successes and challenges in overcoming active addiction and living drug-free, productive lives through the application of the principles contained within the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of NA (patterned after Alcoholics Anonymous.) Anyone is welcome no matter what is used or how big the desire to stop using is. FR Class Of 1978 Reunion Forbes Road Class of 1978 will hold a 40th class reunion May 19 at the CVAEMA show grounds, 1501 Criders Church Road, Chambersburg, at 4 p.m. Classmates are asked to bring a covered dish. Free Lunch Lunch will be served every first Friday of each month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at McConnellsburg United Methodist Faith and Life Center, across from the courthouse. Parking available behind the church. Soup, sandwiches, salad bar, potato bar and dessert bar are served. Dine-in or carryouts with donations accepted.

Spaghetti Fundraiser Hancock Lioness Lions Club will hold a spaghetti fundraiser Friday, May 18, from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at Widmeyer Park Lions pavilion in Hancock. Served with Mrs. Kern’s spaghetti sauce, salad, rolls, dessert and beverage. Cost is by donation. Donate used eyeglasses and hearing aids also. In case of severe weather, event rescheduled.

Chicken Dinner Mother’s Day Chicken dinner will be held May 13, at noon, at Shade Gap Assembly of God, one mile north of the old Sunny Ridge Restaurant on Piper Lane. Three Springs Historical Society Dinner David Cheslock will be the featured speaker at the annual dinner of Three Springs Historical Society Saturday, May 12, at 6 p.m., at Three Springs Firehall. Cheslock has done extensive research on the history of the Anderson family. He will share the connection between the Andersons, Wibles, Hortons, Browns, Ramseys and Brodbecks. The public is invited.

Vo-Tech Meeting Fulton County Area Vocational Technical School will hold an information gathering meeting to address community questions/concerns related to Forbes Road School District’s requested intent to withdraw from Fulton County Vocational Consortium. The public is invited to attend this information gathering meeting Thursday, May 24, at 7 p.m., at Hustontown Firehall.

PASR Meeting Fulton PASR meeting will be held May 22 at 10:30 a.m., at McConnellsburg Presbyterian Church. Lunch for $5 will be held after the program. More information will be provided next week. All school retirees and their friends are invited to participate in the Silver Sneakers program.

Sportsmen’s League Meeting Fulton County Sportsmen’s League will meet at 7 p.m. in the stone house at the trout nursery May 18. Plans for the open house and children’s fishing rodeo to be held May 20 will be finalized.

Cemetery Meeting Ebenezer Cemetery Association, Sipes Mill, Pa., will hold its yearly cemetery meeting at the church May 14, at 7 p.m. All are welcome.

MEMORIAL SERVICES

Memorial/Homecoming Timber Ridge Cemetery Association and Antioch Christian Church invite all to its memorial and homecoming service Sunday, June 3, at 2 p.m., at Antioch Christian Church, 7902 Timber Ridge Road, Big Cove Tannery. Included will be gospel music and a memorial message by Pastor Russell Hoffman, followed by fellowship at the adjacent pavilion. Meat, beverage and table settings will be furnished. Bring favorite covered dish to share. All are welcome.

Memorial Services Tonoloway Cemetery Assoc. will hold annual memorial services Sunday, May 20, at 2 p.m., at Tonoloway Primitive Baptist Church. Speaker will be Pastor Rodney Truax. Special music by Pastor Truax and his family. Refreshments will be served after the services.

Memorial Services Jerusalem Christian Church Cemetery Assoc., 273 Church Road, Warfordsburg, will hold Memorial Day services May 20, at 2 p.m. Guest speaker will be Frank McKee and musical guest will be Vernon Clingerman.

RELIGION

Revival Revival services will be held at Sideling Hill Christian Church, 10424 Sipes Mill Road, Needmore, May 10-13, at 7 p.m. Evangelist will be Bill Ulment. Everyone is welcome.

Special Services Bailey’s Crossing will perform at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, 10987 Little Cove Road, Mercersburg, Sunday, June 3. They will provide special music, sponsored by Mt. Zion Union Cemetery Association, at the annual homecoming services beginning at 10 a.m. The services is held once a year to honor community graduates and longtime members. All contributions received that day, unless designated otherwise, are used for the upkeep and maintenance of the surrounding cemetery. The cemetery is maintained solely from voluntary contributions. Everyone is invited to stay for lunch immediately following services.
