Juanita Branche

McConnellsburg, 72

Juanita “Grace” Branche, 72, McConnellsburg, died Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at her home where she was surrounded by a host of family and friends at her bedside.

She was born March 23, 1946, the daughter of the late Ted W. Branche and Alice H. Branche of McConnnellsburg.

She received her formal education at Central Fulton School District in Mc- Connellsburg.

She worked at South Mountain as a caregiver for a short period of time, and then she retired from employment in order to care for her mother and children.

She liked to cook that soul food that took you back to your childhood like pigs’ feet and cabbage; but she also liked to order out and enjoyed her hot wings and subs of all kinds. She had a sweet tooth so she loved to eat tasty sweets such as cherry pie and ice cream. Although she enjoyed all those dishes, Diet Pepsi was her first love and she was seldom without it in her hand. She enjoyed listening to music and watching the Investigation Discover Channel and Forensic Files. She loved the simple things in life like sitting in her chair on the porch and enjoying the view as she talked and laughed on the telephone with her family and friends.

As a young adult, she used to travel from town to town with her siblings to sing gospel music at local churches and participated in socials to raise money for the church. She had a kind and gentle spirit and loved to laugh, however; she would not hesitate to speak her mind. Prior to her illness, she liked to take walks and visit her friends and her sister who resided near her. Her best friend was her mother, Alice Branche; they were inseparable partners who loved their life in the mountains.

She is survived by her daughters: Stephanie S. Branche, McConnellsburg, and Tracey L. Branche, Chambersburg; her grandchildren: Kourtney L. Branche, Ulisha Robinson- Zullinger, and Shanice and Niatae’ L. Peterson; greatgrandchildren: Javon L. Frisby and Serenity M.L. Branche and her two sisters: Peggy McWhite and Patsy Branche-Dinkins, both of Harrisburg, Pa.

She was preceeded in death by her mother, Alice H. Branche; her father, Ted W. Branche; a son, Preston Branche; a granddaughter, Sharece Branche-Arnold; sisters: Geraldine Davis, Delores Scates and Sarah Branche and two brothers: Walter Branche and Harold Branche.

A homegoing service was held Saturday, April 7, at Cito United Methodist Church in McConnellsburg, at 1 p.m. Interment was at Union Cemetery in Mc- Connellsburg. Rev. Diane Jefferson officiated.
