Sunrise Services Knobsville Church of the Brethren will hold Easter sunrise services April 1, at 7:30 a.m., followed by breakfast. Sunday School will be at 9:30 a.m.; resurrection celebration at 10:30 a.m. All are invited. More information at 717- 987-3935.

Holy Week Services Warfordsburg Presbyterian Church Holy Week schedule is as follows: March 29 – Maundy Thursday services with worshp at 7 p.m. (some outside); Easter Sunday sunrise services will be held at 7:15 a.m. with breakfast served by the men of the churchy at 8 a.m. and worship services at 9 a.m. Buck Valley Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church will hold worship services Easter Sunday, April 1, at 7 p.m., with Rev. Allen Weatherholt.

Easter Services Knobsville United Methodist Church will hold Palm Sunday services at 8:30 a.m. March 25. Easter sunrise services will be held April 1, at 6:30 a.m., at Center United Methodist Church for all the Sideling Hill Parish.

Good Friday Services Good Friday Easter services will be held at Fairview United Methodist Church on North Hess Road, Harrisonville, Friday, March 30, at 7 p.m. Pastor DeAnn Newhouse will be giving the message.

Easter Services Burnt Cabins Bible Church will hold sunrise service Easter Sunday at 6:30 a.m. The service will be followed by breakfast at 7:30 a.m., Sunday School at 9 a.m., and morning worship at 10 a.m. Pastor Bob Benson and the church congregation invite everyone in the Burnt Cabins area to join them for this special day. Sunrise Services Calvary Independent Baptist Church, 140 McGoverns Lane, McConnellsburg, will hold Easter sunrise services Sunday, April 1, at 7 a.m. More information at 717-485-4745.

Easter Services Needmore Bible Church will hold Good Friday services March 30, at 7 p.m. Come watch the “Cross Builder.” Easter sunrise services will be held April 1, at 7 a.m., followed by a fellowship breakfast. Sunday School/Life Groups will be held at 9 a.m. and worship services at 10 a.m. which will feature a cantata.

RECREATION

Gun Bash Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will hold a spring gun bash Saturday, April 21, at the firehall. Tickets are $10 and include one meal per ticket. Total of 10 prizes of guns and cash.

Flounder Tournament The sixth annual flounder tournament will be held May 17, 18 and 19. Applications may be picked up at Peckies Body Shop or by calling 301-910-3577.

Easter Bunny Trolley The Easter Bunny Trolley will be at Rockhill Trolley Museum, Rockkhill Furnace, Saturday, March 24. Ride a trolley car to visit the Easter Bunny. Each child receives a gift from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cost is $8.

HAVFCO Craft/Yard Sale Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will hold a craft and yard sale April 7, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Reserve tables by March 31. Cost is two for $10. Call 987-3210 early morning or 987-3108. Soup and sandwiches also available.

Gun Bash Hancock Fire Co. will hold a spring gun bash Saturday, May 19, at the fire and rescue property on Sensel Road. Cost is $20 per ticket. Gates open at 11 a.m. Buffet served at 11:30 a.m. to ticketholders and a guest. Only 500 tickets sold. Tickets available from any fireman or contact 301- 678-7739.

Fatherhood Open Fulton County Fatherhood Initiative will hold a Fatherhood Open at Fulton County Library April 13, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Please RSVP by April 6 at 717-485- 6767, Ext. 222.

Easter Egg Hunt Forbes Road Lions Club will hold an Easter egg hunt at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 31, at the Lions Park, weather permitting. In case of inclement weather or muddy grounds, the event will take place in the Forbes Road High School gym. Candy and special prizes for toddlers thru age 12. Raffle tickets are now on sale to support the hunt and other Lions Club projects.

Bike Ride Team No One Fights Alone will hold a bike ride Saturday, June 9, at Harpers Memorial Park, Shade Gap. Registration is from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and kick stands up at noon. Food will be provided after the ride. Cost is $20 per bike and $10 for passenger. Cars are welcome to participate at $20 per car. Post 518 will hold a dance with “SOS” from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Madden Winnick Post 518, Orbisonia. If not riding but want to attend and enjoy the entertainment at the post after the ride, a donation of $10 is appreciated. Casino Trip Warfordsburg Senior Center is offering a trip to Hollywood Casino in Grantville, Pa., on April 11. Cost of the trip is $35. Casino is giving $35 playing voucher and a $5 food voucher. Sports Hall of Fame Banquet McConnellsburg Alumni and Friends Association will honor the third class of Fulton County All-Sports Hall of Fame April 6, 2018. Members to be inducted will be Don Fowler, Ralph Fraker, C. Owen Fries, John Glazier, Herb Hardin, Fran Mellott, Carole Palmer and Larry Palmer.

SF Registration Southern Fulton School District will hold pre-kindergarten registration Wednesday, March 21, and Thursday, March 22, for children who will be 3 or 4 years old before August 1, 2018. Kindergarten registration will be held March 21 and March 22 for children who will be 5 years old before August 1, 2018. To register for either class call 717-294- 3400 to schedule an appointment.

Rabies Clinic Better Days Animal League Thrift Store, Fort Loudon, across from Milky Way Restaurant, will hold a rabies, distemper and microchip clinic March 24 and June 2 from 10 a.m. top 12:30 p.m. Cost is cash only. Meals Available Once a month volunteers pack up boxes of food to be given to anyone in need in the Waterfall area. Pickup is at Center United Methodist Church community building on Doran Road, Waterfall. More information may be obtained by calling 814-685-3780. Calls will be kept strictly confidential.

Book Sale More than 60,000 new and used books of all types plus CDs, DVDs, audio books, puzzles, board games and artwork will be offered for sale at the 34th annual Friends of Legal Services book sale at Laird Hall on the Wilson College campus in Chambersburg May 18 and 19. Hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, May 18; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, May 19; and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 20.

Bulky Items Day Ayr and Todd townships and Mc- Connellsburg Borough will hold spring bulky items Friday, April 27, and Saturday, April 28. McConnellsburg Borough will be curbside with pickup Friday, April 27. Items should be placed curbside Thursday evening, April 26. A detailed listing will appear in the “News” with times and what is and isn’t acceptable.

VFW Election The annual election of officers for VFW Post 655 will be held at the regular meeting April 5 at 5:30 p.m. Members are encouraged to attend this important meeting.

Camp Cadet Applications Fulton County Camp Cadet is now accepting applications for the 2018 Camp Cadet program which will be held at Camp Sinoquipe Scout Reservation in Fort Littleton June 3-9. Any child interested and who did not get an application at the school presentation, can pick up one at the state police barracks, 500 Fulton Drive, McConnellsburg, or at Fulton County Services for Children, 219 North Second Street, McConnellsburg. Applications must be returned by April 6 and all applicants will be notified of interviews to be conducted April 21.

Pajama Collection PA Office of Victim Advocate is collecting new pajamas to be distributed for Children and Youth agencies across sthe commonwealth as part of Child Abuse Awareness Month in April. All donations will be sent to OVA for distribution to PA Childrenand Youth agencies to be given out to children upon entering into foster care placement. Donations are being accepted at Fulton County Services for Children, 219 North Second Street, McConnellsburg. Pajamas to be accepted are from infant to adolescent size. Donations accepted until April 20.

FR Registration Forbes Road School District will hold Redbird (K-4) and kindergarten (K-5) registration for the 2018-2019 school year Monday, April 9, and Tuesday, April 10. Children who will be age 4 on or before the first day of school are eligible for the Redbird (K-4) program and children who will be 5 on or before September 1, 2018, are eligible for the kindergarten (K-5) program. Electronics Recycling Responsible electronics recycling collection for Fulton County residents will be Thursday, March 22, from noon to 5 p.m., and Saturday, March 24, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Take electronics to 610 E. North St, Mc- Connellsburg. For more information call Greg at 717-325- 6092.

Strawberry Plant Sale Fulton County 4-H Clubs will be taking orders for high quality strawberry plants. Plants come in bundles of 25; each bundle contains a single variety. Cost per bundle is $10. Orders and payment are due in the Extension Office by March 14. Place an order with a 4-H’er or call 717-325-4871. Delivery is April 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Blueberry Sale Fulton County 4-H Clubs are taking orders for 10-lb. boxes of large, clean blueberries for $29. Delivery is Friday, June 29. Contact a 4-H’er or call 717-325-4871 to place an order. Last day to place orders is June 6.

Pruning Seminar Penn State Extension Master Gardener will hold “Pruning With the Buchanan Bureau of Forestry” Saturday, March 24, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Community State Bank community room in McConnellsburg. Cost is $10 per person and money must accompany reservations. To reserve a seat call 717-325-4871. The training will teach the group in types of equipment and proper techniques for trimming trees and shrubs. Program presented by David Scamardella and Cody Crouse.

Nutrition Class Fulton County nutrition awareness classes are held at Warfordsburg Senior Center on the third Monday of every month from 10:30 a.m. to noon. When the third Monday is a holiday, the class is held the fourth Monday. To register or sign up for lunch call 717-294-6020.

Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held every Monday morning at 11 a.m. (even holidays), at Fulton County Medical Center Community Health and Wellness building located at 294 Lincoln Way West and every Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the basement of Mc- Connellsburg alumni building, 301 East Maple Street. Both are open meetings and anyone can attend.

Narcotics Anonymous Meets two times per week in Mc- Connellsburg. NA is a nonprofit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. Members share their successes and challenges in overcoming active addiction and living drug-free, productive lives through the application of the principles contained within the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of NA (patterned after Alcoholics Anonymous.) Anyone is welcome no matter what is used or how big the desire to stop using is. Sundays at 7 p.m. in Fulton County Medical Center Wellness Center, 294 Lincoln Way West (old Dollar General); Thursdays at 7 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 228 North Second Sdtreet, McConnellsburg (down the outside stairs). MHS Class Of 1968 Reunion McConnellsburg High School Class of 1968 will hold its 50th class reunion Saturday, June 23, at the Orchards Restaurant in Chambersbur. Mark calendars. Details will follow.

Free Lunch Lunch will be served every first Friday of each month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at McConnellsburg United Methodist Faith and Life Center, across from the courthouse. Parking available behind the church. Soup, sandwiches, salad bar, potato bar and dessert bar are served. Dine-in or carryouts with donations accepted.

Pancake Supper Needmore Volunteer Fire Co. will hold a pancake supper March 30 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Donations are accepted. Served will be pancakes, sausage, eggs, biscuits and orange juice.

Spaghetti Dinner Breezewood Fire Co. will hold a benefit spaghetti dinner and basket raffle Sunday, March 25, at 11 a.m. Proceeds benefit member Jim Swope. Dinner will include spaghetti with meatballs, salad, garlic bread or dinner roll, dessert and beverage. Cost is $8 for adults; children 6-12 $5 and under 6 eat free. Scouting Breakfast The seventh annual Friends of Scouting breakfast will be held Friday, March 23, from 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., at McConnellsburg VFW Post 655. Speaker will be Chad Herrold. Steak/Chicken Dinner A steak and chicken dinner will be held Saturday, March 31, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Pleasant Union Church, 259 Pleasant Union Church Road, Clearville. Served will be cubed steak, pulled pork, chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, applesauce, roll, soft-freeze ice cream and cake. Donations only. Takeouts available. All are welcome.

MEETINGS

Cemetery Assoc. Meeting The annual meeting of Clear Ridge Cemetery Association will be held March 30, at 7 p.m., at the Methodist Church.

Historical Society Dinner/Meeting Fulton County Historical Society will hold its annual membership dinner and meeting at Hustontown Firehall March 31, at 6 p.m. Cooper Wingert will speak about slavery and the Underground Railroad in southcentral Pennsylvania. Tickets are $15 for adults; $7.50 for children ages 4-11; and children under 4 are free. Reservations and payments must be received by March 23. PTA Fundraiser Bingo Southern Fulton PTA will hold a fundraiser bingo Sunday, April 22. Doors open at noon and games begin at 2 p.m., at McConnellsburg Firehall. Concessions will be available. Raffles, silent auction, extra games, specials and small games of chance will be available for purchase. Donation is $25 per person for 20 games, with one winner per game. Must have ticket to attend. Prizes include many getaway packages, restaurant gift cards, tickets to sporting events, salon services, golf packages and wineries tours and tastings.
