Open Mic NIght McConnellsburg Senior Center will hold an Open Mic Night March 12, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Food is available and the public is welcome.

Gun Bash Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will hold a spring gun bash Saturday, April 21, at the firehall. Tickets are $10 and include one meal per ticket. Total of 10 prizes of guns and cash.

Bike Ride Team No One Fights Alone will hold a bike ride Saturday, June 9, at Harpers Memorial Park, Shade Gap. Registration is from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and kick stands up at noon. Food will be provided after the ride. Cost is $20 per bike and $10 for passenger. Cars are welcome to participate at $20 per car. Post 518 will hold a dance with “SOS” from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Madden Winnick Post 518, Orbisonia. If not riding but want to attend and enjoy the entertainment at the post after the ride, a donation of $10 is appreciated. Casino Trip Warfordsburg Senior Center is offering a trip to Hollywood Casino in Grantville, Pa., on April 11. Cost of the trip is $35. Casino is giving $35 playing voucher and a $5 food voucher. 250 Club Drawing A 250 club drawing will be held March 17 at the American Legion. Sponsored by Fulton Honor Guard and Post 561 SAL. For tickets see an honor guard or SAL member or stop at the post or VFW post. Cost is $20 for two people.

Sports Hall of Fame Banquet McConnellsburg Alumni and Friends Association will honor the third class of Fulton County All-Sports Hall of Fame April 6, 2018. Members to be inducted will be Don Fowler, Ralph Fraker, C. Owen Fries, John Glazier, Herb Hardin, Fran Mellott, Carole Palmer and Larry Palmer.


Preschool Registration Fulton County Vocational School is now accepting applications for preschool. Preschool will be held at McConnellsburg Elementary School, 151 East Cherry Street, March 13 to May 17 for children ages 3-5 who are also potty trained, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday (parents choose one day a week their children will attend). SF Registration Southern Fulton School District will hold pre-kindergarten registration Wednesday, March 21, and Thursday, March 22, for children who will be 3 or 4 years old before August 1, 2018. Kindergarten registration will be held March 21 and March 22 for children who will be 5 years old before August 1, 2018. To register for either class call 717- 294-3400 to schedule an appointment.

Strawberry Plant Sale Fulton County 4-H Clubs will be taking orders for high quality strawberry plants. Plants come in bundles of 25; each bundle contains a single variety. Cost per bundle is $10. Orders and payment are due in the Extension Office by March 14. Place an order with a 4-H’er or call 717-325-4871. Delivery is April 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

JumpStart Event On Monday, March 12, at 6 p.m., in Mc- Connellsburg Middle/High School cafeteria, Dan Wray from PA Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) will be speaking about a wide range of topics that are of interest to college-bound students and their families. Whether the student is considering a one-year diploma/certificate, a two-year degree, a four-year degree, or an academic program that requires graduate level work, JumpStart will highlight practical steps that can be taken years in advance. The event is designed primarily for ninth thru eleventh grade students, but it will include something for everyone. Specifically covered will be some of the recent changes to the FAFSA filing deadlines. The goal of JumpStart is to maximize college and career readiness, and to minimize indebtedness. 55-Alive Smart Driving Classes Warfordsburg Senior Center will offer classes for the 55-Alive/Smart Driving Dscount Program, March 14 and 15. The class is from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for those who have never taken the class, then two days of classes is required. To renew a discount the first day is needed. Preregister either in person or by calling the center. Checks are made payable to AARP for $20 (per person non-member) or $15 (per person AARP member). The center is located at 209 Long Hollow Road, Warfordsburg. Anyone planning on having lunch, make reservations for lunch when registering. Classes are designed to help improve driving skills. Scouts Accepting Members Troop 43, chartered by the United Presbyterian Church of McConnellsburg, is accepting boys age 11-17. FR Registration Forbes Road School District will hold Redbird (K-4) and kindergarten (K-5) registration for the 2018-2019 school year Monday, April 9, and Tuesday, April 10. Children who will be age 4 on or before the first day of school are eligible for the Redbird (K-4) program and children who will be 5 on or before September 1, 2018, are eligible for the Kindergarten (K-5) program. Pruning Seminar Penn State Extension Master Gardener will hold “Pruning With the Buchanan Bureau of Forestry” Saturday, March 24, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Community State Bank community room in McConnellsburg. Nutrition Class Fulton County nutrition awareness classes are held at Warfordsburg Senior Center on the third Monday of every month from 10:30 a.m. to noon. When the third Monday is a holiday, the class is held the fourth Monday. To register or sign up for lunch call 717-294-6020.

Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held every Monday morning at 11 a.m. (even holidays), at Fulton County Medical Center Community Health and Wellness building located at 294 Lincoln Way West and every Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the basement of Mc- Connellsburg alumni building, 301 East Maple Street. Both are open meetings and anyone can attend.

Narcotics Anonymous Meets two times per week in Mc- Connellsburg. NA is a nonprofit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. Members share their successes and challenges in overcoming active addiction and living drug-free, productive lives through the application of the principles contained within the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of NA (patterned after Alcoholics Anonymous.) Anyone is welcome no matter what is used or how big the desire to stop using is. Free Lunch Lunch will be served every first Friday of each month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at McConnellsburg United Methodist Faith and Life Center, across from the courthouse. Parking available behind the church. Soup, sandwiches, salad bar, potato bar and dessert bar are served. Dine-in or carryouts with donations accepted.

Free Meal A free meal will be served the second Tuesday of each month at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 North Third Street. Please join in for good fellowship.

Pancake Supper Bedford Chapel Church on Rt. 643, 4570 Flickerville Rd, Warfordsburg, will hold an all-you-can-eat pancake supper Saturday, March 17, from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Menu includes pancakes, buckwheat cakes, sausage, sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, coffee and juice. Everyone welcome.

Soup Night Soup night will be held every Wednesday until March 21, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at McConnellsburg United Presbyterian Church. In the event Central Fulton School District is closed or has an early dismissal soup night will be cancelled. Check out on www.mupc.org.

Pancake Supper Whips Cove Church, 5044 Moss Road, Warfordsburg, will hold a pancake supper March 10 at 5 p.m. Menu will consist of buttermilk and old-fashioned buckwheat pancakes. Ham, sausage links, sausage gravy, puddin, fried and scrambled eggs, orange juice, hot chocolate and coffee will also be available. Donations are accepted and greatly appreciated. Scouting Breakfast The seventh annual Friends of Scouting breakfast will be held Friday, March 23, from 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., at McConnellsburg VFW Post 655. Speaker will be Chad Herrold, pastor at Cito United Methodist Church and an avid Scout volunteer. The breakfast is open to all those who value the Boy Scouting program in Fulton County as it prepares the next generation of boys and young men for the responsibilities of adulthood and citizenship. Steak/Chicken Dinner A steak and chicken dinner will be held Saturday, March 31, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Pleasant Union Church, 259 Pleasant Union Church Road, Clearville. Served will be cubed steak, pulled pork, chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, applesauce, roll, soft-freeze ice cream and cake. Donations only. Takeouts available. All are welcome.


Sportsmen’s League Meeting Fulton County Sportsmen’s League will meet at 7 p.m., in the stone house at the trout nursery March 16. Details for the annual trout stocking and fundraiser on the first day of trout season April 14, will be discussed. Plans for the children’s fish rodeo and open house will also be discussed. Help is needed for assistance at the annual open house and children’s fishing rodeo. People are needed to assist with setup, food preparation and cooking. Anyone willing to help should attend the March and April meetings. Meetings are held the third Friday of the month at 7 p.m.

Singles Meeting Knobsville Singles will meet Monday, March 12, at 11 a.m., at K’s Place.

Historical Society Dinner/Meeting Fulton County Historical Society will hold its annual membership dinner and meeting at Hustontown Firehall March 31, at 6 p.m. Cooper Wingert will speak about slavery and the Underground Railroad in south-central Pennsylvania. Tickets are $15 for adults; $7.50 for children ages 4-11; and children under 4 are free. Reservations and payments must be received by March 23. Bigfoot Forum Join in Saturday, March 10, at 10 a.m., at the old Black Oak Mennonite Church, 2247 Stoneybreak Road, Warfordsburg, for a Bigfoot forum. It will be an open forum discussion with the Pennsylvania Bigfoot research team members. For more information call 717-294-3912.


PTA Fundraiser Bingo Southern Fulton PTA will hold a fundraiser bingo Sunday, April 22. Doors open at noon and games begin at 2 p.m., at McConnellsburg Firehall. Concessions will be available. Raffles, silent auction, extra games, specials and small games of chance will be available for purchase. Donation is $25 per person for 20 games, with one winner per game. Must have ticket to attend.
