FR Musical “Shrek the Musical” will be presented by Forbes Road Drama Club March 2 and 3. Show times are Friday, March 2, at 7 p.m., and two shows Saturday, March 3, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. There will be a meal available between shows. HAVFCO Craft/Yard Sale Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will hold a craft and yard sale April 7, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Reserve tables by March 31. Cost is two for $10. Call 987-3210 early morning or 987-3108. Soup and sandwiches also available.

Little League Signups Fulton County Little League will hold open registration for the 2017 season at the Little League club house at Lions Community Park in McConnellsburg Saturdays, February 24 and March 3, from 9 a.m to noon. Boys and girls can register for T-ball (5-6 years), Farm League (7- 8 years) and Little League (9-12 years). First-year players should bring a copy of birth certificate. Pony/Colt League Signups Fulton County Pony and Colt League signups will be held February 24 and March 3, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the Little League club house (upstairs) or call Lori at 717-809-5151 for more information.

250 Club Drawing A 250 club drawing will be held March 17 at the American Legion. Sponsored by Fulton Honor Guard and Post 561 SAL. For tickets see an honor guard or SAL member or stop at the post or VFW post. Cost is $20 for two people.

Softball Registration BiValley girls softball will hold registration for girls in grades K-9 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, February 23. Cost is $35. There will be three age brackets for teams. Find on Facebook or for more information call 717-372- 5922.

Hall Walking Hall walking at McConnellsburg High School is open to the public. Hall walking will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Save The Date McConnellsburg Alumni and Friends Association will honor the third class of Fulton County All- Sports Hall of Fame April 6, 2018. Members to be inducted will be Don Fowler, Ralph Fraker, C. Owen Fries, John Glazier, Herb Hardin, Fran Mellott, Carole Palmer and Larry Palmer.

Free Walking There will be free walking in the alumni community building every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. If the Central Fulton School District is closed due to the weather the gym will not be open.


Preschool Registration Fulton County Vocational School is now accepting applications for preschool. Preschool will be held at McConnellsburg Elementary School, 151 East Cherry Street, March 13 to May 17 for children ages 3-5 who are also potty trained, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday (parents choose one day a week their children will attend). SF Registration Southern Fulton School District will hold pre-kindergarten registration Wednesday, March 21, and Thursday, March 22, for children who will be 3 or 4 years old before August 1, 2018. Kindergarten registration will be held March 21 and March 22 for children who will be 5 years old before August 1, 2018. To register for either class call 717- 294-3400 to schedule an appointment.

CF Registration Central Fulton School District will hold registration for the 2018-2019 school year Monday, February 26; Tuesday, February 27; and Wednesday, February 28. Children who will be age 4 on or before the first day of school, August 22, 2018, are eligible for K4 program and children who will be age 5 on or before the first day of school are eligible for the K5 kindergarten program. Please note that students who are currently enrolled in the K4 program do not need to re-register for K5. Contact Stacy Morton at 717-485-7072 to schedule an appointment.

Strawberry Plant Sale Fulton County 4-H Clubs will be taking orders for high quality strawberry plants. Plants come in bundles of 25; each bundle contains a single variety. Cost per bundle is $10. Orders and payment are due in the Extension Office by March 14. Place an order with a 4-H’er or call 717-325-4871. Delivery is April 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Blueberry Sale Fulton County 4-H Clubs are taking orders for 10-lb. boxes of large, clean blueberries for $29. Delivery is Friday, June 29. Contact a 4-H’er or call 717-325-4871 to place an order. Last day to place orders is June 6.

Meals Available Once a month volunteers pack up boxes of food to be given to anyone in need in the Waterfall area. Pickup is at Center United Methodist Church community building on Doran Road, Waterfall. More information may be obtained by calling 814-685-3780. Calls will be kept strictly confidential.

Hunter-Trapper Education Course A Pennsylvania Game Commission Hunter-Trapper Education Training Class will be held Saturday, March 24, at the DCNR District Forestry Building located north of McConnellsburg off Route 522. The class will begin at 8 a.m. sharp, so students need to arrive by 7:45 a.m. to receive class materials. Students must bring a packed lunch as no lunch is provided. Class will conclude at approximately 3 p.m., and parents need not remain with the students. Scouts Accepting Members Troop 43, chartered by the United Presbyterian Church of McConnellsburg, is accepting boys age 11-17. Pruning Seminar Penn State Extension Master Gardener will hold “Pruning With the Buchanan Bureau of Forestry” Saturday, March 24, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Community State Bank community room in McConnellsburg. Cost is $10 per person and money must accompany reservations. To reserve a seat call 717-325-4871. The training will teach the group in types of equipment and proper techniques for trimming trees and shrubs. Program presented by David Scamardella and Cody Crouse.

FR FFA At Tractor Supply Forbes Road FFA will be at Tractor Supply in McConnellsburg February 23, to raise awareness for the Grants for Growing Campaign. Come out and support the local FFA members and their efforts to be awarded a grant to increase hydroponics and aquaculture in the classroom.

Veterans Service Office Winter Hours Instead of Wednesdays, the Fulton County Veterans Service Office will now be open Fridays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. This change will be effective through March 30, 2018.

Nutrition Class Fulton County nutrition awareness classes are held at Warfordsburg Senior Center on the third Monday of every month from 10:30 a.m. to noon. When the third Monday is a holiday, the class is held the fourth Monday. To register or sign up for lunch call 717-294-6020.

Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held every Monday morning at 11 a.m. (even holidays), at Fulton County Medical Center Community Health and Wellness building located at 294 Lincoln Way West and every Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the basement of McConnellsburg alumni building, 301 East Maple Street. Both are open meetings and anyone can attend.

Narcotics Anonymous Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meets two times per week in McConnellsburg. NA is a 12-step fellowship whose primary focus is “that no addict need die from the disease of addiction.” Members share their successes and challenges in overcoming addictive addiction by learning how to live drug-free lives through applying the principles contained within the twelve steps and traditions of NA. Anyone is welcome no matter what drug/drink was used, how much or little you have or how big or small desire is to change. There are members with long-term recovery to help. Meetings are Sunday and Thursday at 7 p.m. at Fulton County Medical Center (enter through the south entrance and take elevator to the second floor) in the Pearl Room. Saturday night is closed. Free Lunch Lunch will be served every first Friday of each month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at McConnellsburg United Methodist Faith and Life Center, across from the courthouse. Parking available behind the church. Soup, sandwiches, salad bar, potato bar and dessert bar are served. Dine-in or carryouts with donations accepted.

Free Meal A free meal will be served the second Tuesday of each month at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 North Third Street. Please join in for good fellowship.

Soup Night Soup night will be held every Wednesday until March 21, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at McConnellsburg United Presbyterian Church. In the event Central Fulton School District is closed or has an early dismissal soup night will be cancelled. Check out on www.mupc.org.

Scouting Breakfast The seventh annual Friends of Scouting breakfast will be held Friday, March 23, from 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., at McConnellsburg VFW Post 655. Speaker will be Chad Herrold, pastor at Cito United Methodist Church and an avid Scout volunteer. The breakfast is open to all those who value the Boy Scouting program in Fulton County as it prepares the next generation of boys and young men for the responsibilities of adulthood and citizenship. Pancake/Sausage Breakfast A pancake and sausage breakfast will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church, 7404 Lincoln Highway, Harrisonville, February 24, from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Made-from-scratch pancakes include plain, blueberry and buckwheat, scrambled eggs, puddin meat, orange juice, coffee and fruit. Cost is by donation.

Steak/Chicken Dinner A steak and chicken dinner will be held Saturday, March 31, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Pleasant Union Church, 259 Pleasant Union Church Road, Clearville. Served will be cubed steak, pulled pork, chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, applesauce, roll, soft freeze ice cream and cake. Donations only. Takeouts available. All are welcome.


Cemetery Meeting Jerusalem Christian Church Cemetery Association, 273 Church Road, Warfordsburg, will hold its annual business meeting Saturday, March 3, at 7 p.m.

Pesticide Meeting Pesticide recertification meeting will be held at McConnellsburg High School cafeteria February 22, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. This meeting will be for 2 CAT credits and 2 CORE credits. PARSE Meetings PARSE Chapter 127 retired state employees will meet on the second Wednesday of each month at the McConnellsburg VFW at 10 a.m. Attendance is important to our chapter.

Legion Meeting American Legion Post 561 active members regular meeting is the first Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. Auxiliary members meet the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. SAL meeting is the first Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. Members of the organizations are urged to attend.

Farm Women Meeting Fulton County Society of Farm Women will meet Thursday, March 1, at the home of Erin Glenn. There will be a guest speaker on heart health.

Historical Society Dinner/Meeting Fulton County Historical Society will hold its annual membership dinner and meeting at Hustontown Firehall March 31, at 6 p.m. Cooper Wingert will speak about slavery and the Underground Railroad in south-central Pennsylvania. Tickets are $15 for adults; $7.50 for children ages 4-11; and children under 4 are free. Reservations and payments must be received by March 23. Bigfoot Forum Does “the legend” live in Fulton County? Join in Saturday, March 10, at 10 a.m., at the old Black Oak Mennonite Church, 2247 Stoneybreak Road, Warfordsburg, for a Bigfoot forum. PTA Fundraiser Bingo Southern Fulton PTA will hold a fundraiser bingo Sunday, April 22. Doors open at noon and games begin at 2 p.m., at McConnellsburg Firehall. Concessions will be available. Raffles, silent auction, extra games, specials and small games of chance will be available for purchase. Donation is $25 per person for 20 games with one winner per game. Must have ticket to attend.
