SUV Crash

A single-vehicle crash occurred on Feb. 9, leaving a 1995 Toyota Four Runner in disabled condition. According to state police, Justin Miller, 19, Big Cove Tannery, was traveling west on Johnsons Mill Road at 9:53 p.m. at unsafe speeds. He failed to maintain a safe lane of travel and left the roadway. His SUV struck an embankment, then a tree before it came to a stop.


A pickup crash occurred on Feb. 7 when the driver of a 2005 Chevrolet C4500 lost control and struck a tree. According to state police, Saul Williams, 52, Warfordsburg, and passenger Bobbie Williams 33, Berkeley Springs, were driving north on Zach’s Ridge Road when Williams lost control of his vehicle, driving down an embankment and into a tree, where it came to a stop. No injuries were reported.

Car Crash

A single car crash occurred Feb. 5 on Black Bear Road at 8:20 a.m. when a local woman hit a patch of snow/ice. According to state police, Marianne Coats, 54, Needmore, was traveling north on the roadway in her 2008 Subaru Outback when she hit a patch of snow/ice and lost control of her vehicle. After traveling off the roadway the vehicle left its wheels and rolled into the field on the east side of Black Bear Road.

Simple Assault

A simple assault took place at McConnellsburg High School on Feb. 8 between 2:30-2:45 p.m. According to state police, two 15-year-old male juveniles engaged first in a verbal altercation, then a physical one when one male punched the other in the lip.


A firearm was stolen from a residence on W. Tannery Road on Feb. 8. According to state police, the victim is a 69-year-old man. Anyone with any information should contact PSP at 717-485-3131.

Criminal Mischief

A local PennDot plow truck inadvertently broke out the back window of a truck on Feb. 7 while plowing a snow and ice. According to state police, Tara Shumaker, 20, Warfordsburg, found the back window of her 2008 Dodge Dakota broken outside of her home at 1195 Old 126 between 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. Damage to the truck has been estimated at $250.00.


An altercation occurred at Campmeeting Road in Brush Creek on Feb. 7 at 9 p.m. According to state police, Bradley Hollinger, 21, Crystal Springs, and Patrick Tomlinson, 22, Crystal Springs, were engaged in an argument when it became physical. Harassment charges were filed.


An unknown individual stole a mailbox from a 61- year-old female at 1432 Trails End Rd. According to state police, the incident occurred on Feb. 6 between midnight and 7 p.m. Anyone with information should contact the PSP at 717-485-3131.

Tobacco On School Property

A minor was caught on McConnellsburg Middle School property in possession of tobacco. According to state police, the minor was found with cigarettes on Feb. 5 at roughly 10 a.m.

Pickup Crash

A single-pickup crash occurred on Feb. 6, leaving a local man with severe injuries. According to state police, Eugene Mellott, 73, Harrisonville, was traveling east on Patterson Run Road in his 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 when he was unable to negotiate a curve. The Ram 1500 traveled off the right side of the roadway and hit a fallen tree with its front right wheel. It then continued to travel southeast off the roadway, up an embankment approximately 30 feet until it impacted a tree with its front end.As a result the truck rolled over, trapping Mellott inside. McConnellsburg EMS arrived on scene and was able to extract the driver by mechanical means. He was then flown from the scene, via helicopter to Winchester Hospital in Virginia.


A theft occurred at Hillside Estates Feb. 6. According to state police, an 18- year-old McConnellsburg female reported that $400 had been stolen from her wallet between the hours of 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Car Crash

A single-car crash occurred on Richmond Road in Franklin County when a local man’s tire broke off. According to state police, Tanner Eichelberger, 24, Hustontown, was driving Feb. 6, at 3:42 p.m., when he went over a slight bump in the roadway. His 2009 Suzuki SX6 hit the bump in such a way that caused the front driver’s side tire to break off.


A 51-year- old local woman has reported a theft at Hillside Estates. According to state police, Micheal Deter, 48, Cumberland, Md., stole the victim’s hand gun and pieces of jewelry Feb. 5 at 1 a.m. Deter was taken into custody and arrested for theft.

Criminal Mischief

A Harrisonville man has reported a damaged mailbox along Mill Road. According to state police, Howard Mellott, 48, Harrisonville, reported that someone struck and damaged his mailbox sometime Feb. 5 and Feb. 6.

McDonald’s Hit-And-Run

A hit-and-run occurred at the McConnellsburg Mc- Donald’s drive-thru on Feb. 2. According to state police, a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu was in the drive-thru line when it was struck in the by a car that had pulled up behind it. The driver of that car backed up to flee the scene, and struck the back of the Malibu once more before leaving the scene. Police said security cameras at the Mc- Donald’s caught little to no evidence of the crash.


State police are investigating a Feb. 12 burglary in Harrisonville. Devon Divens, 19, Harrisonville, reported that someone entered his residence at 8718 Lincoln Highway between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and stole cash.
