Open Mic Open Mic will be held at Hancock Community Center on High Street Friday, February 16. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and music begins at 6 p.m. All are welcome.

FR Musical “Shrek the Musical” will be presented by Forbes Road Drama Club March 2 and 3. Show times are Friday, March 2, at 7 p.m., and two shows Saturday, March 3, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. There will be a meal available between shows. Little League Signups Fulton County Little League will hold open registration for the 2017 season at the Little League club house at Lions Community Park in McConnellsburg Saturdays, February 24 and March 3, from 9 a.m to noon. Boys and girls can register for T-ball (5-6 years), Farm League (7- 8 years) and Little League (9-12 years). First-year players should bring a copy of birth certificate. Pony/Colt League Signups Fulton County Pony and Colt League signups will be held February 24 and March 3, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the Little League club house (upstairs) or call Lori at 717-809-5151 for more information.

250 Club Drawing A 250 club drawing will be held March 17 at the American Legion. Sponsored by Fulton Honor Guard and Post 561 SAL. For tickets see an honor guard or SAL member or stop at the post or VFW post. Cost is $20 for two people.

Senior Center Dance Dance to the music of The Good Times gospel band Saturday, February 17, at Broad Top Senior Center in Saxton. Doors open at 5 p.m. Kitchen opens at 5 p.m. Music from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Donation is $3.

Hall Walking Hall walking at McConnellsburg High School is open to the public. Hall walking will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Free Walking There will be free walking in the alumni community building every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. If the Central Fulton School District is closed due to the weather the gym will not be open.


Preschool Registration Fulton County Vocational School is now accepting applications for preschool. Preschool will be held at McConnellsburg Elementary School, 151 East Cherry Street, March 13 to May 17 for children ages 3-5 who are also potty trained, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday (parents choose one day a week their children will attend). Save The Date McConnellsburg Alumni and Friends Association will honor the third class of Fulton County All- Sports Hall of Fame April 6, 2018. Members to be inducted will be Don Fowler, Ralph Fraker, C. Owen Fries, John Glazier, Herb Hardin, Fran Mellott, Carole Palmer and Larry Palmer.

Preschool Story Hour Preschool story hour is held weekly through the school year at 10:30 a.m. Hustontown Branch Library hosts on Tuesdays; McConnellsburg library, Wednesdays; and southern Fulton County at Dott Store every other Thursday. GSR Sponorship The 2018 sponsorship program managed by the Grease Steam and Rust Association to fund the 2018 Fulton Fall Folk Festival October 19-21 and parade on October 20 is now open. SF Registration Southern Fulton School District will hold pre-kindergarten registration Wednesday, March 21, and Thursday, March 22, for children who will be 3 or 4 years old before August 1, 2018. Kindergarten registration will be held March 21 and March 22 for children who will be 5 years old before August 1, 2018. To register for either class call 717- 294-3400 to schedule an appointment.

CF Registration Central Fulton School District will hold registration for the 2018-2019 school year Monday, February 26; Tuesday, February 27; and Wednesday, February 28. Children who will be age 4 on or before the first day of school, August 22, 2018, are eliglble for K4 program and children who will be age 5 on or before the first day of school are eligible for the K5 kindergarten program. Please note that students who are currently enrolled in the K4 program do not need to reregister for K5. Contact Stacy Morton at 717-485-7072 to schedule an appointment.

Strawberry Plant Sale Fulton County 4-H Clubs will be taking orders for high quality strawberry plants. Plants come in bundles of 25; each bundle contains a single variety. Cost per bundle is $10. Orders and payment are due in the Extension Office by March 14. Place an order with a 4-H’er or call 717-325-4871. Delivery is April 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Blueberry Sale Fulton County 4-H Clubs are taking orders for 10-lb. boxes of large, clean blueberries for $29. Delivery is Friday, June 29. Contact a 4-H’er or call 717-325-4871 to place an order. Last day to place orders is June 6.

Community Food Giveaway A community food giveaway will be held Saturday, February 18, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., or while supplies last at Rehoboth New Life Church, 8159 Great Cove Road, Needmore, in the former Fulton County Community Christian School. All are welcome. No income eligibility guidelines.

FR FFA At Tractor Supply Forbes Road FFA will be at Tractor Supply in McConnellsburg February 23, to raise awareness for the Grants for Growing Campaign. Come out and support the local FFA members and their efforts to be awarded a grant to increase hydroponics and aquaculture in the classroom.

Veterans Service Office Winter Hours Instead of Wednesdays, the Fulton County Veterans Service Office will now be open Fridays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. This change will be effective through March 30, 2018.


Free Lunch Lunch will be served every first Friday of each month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at McConnellsburg United Methodist Faith and Life Center, across from the courthouse. Parking available behind the church. Soup, sandwiches, salad bar, potato bar and dessert bar are served. Dine-in or carryouts with donations accepted.

Free Meal A free meal will be served the second Tuesday of each month at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 North Third Street. Please join in for good fellowship.

Soup Night Soup night will be held every Wednesday until March 21, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at McConnellsburg United Presbyterian Church. In the event Central Fulton School District is closed or has an early dismissal soup night will be cancelled. Check out on www.mupc.org.

Spaghetti Fundraiser Hancock Lioness/Lions Club will hold a spaghetti fundraiser Sunday, February 18, at Hancock American Legion, from noon to 3 p.m. In case of severe weather will be rescheduled. Served will be spaghetti with the “Mrs. Kerns” sauce, salad, garlic rolls, dessert and beverage. Cost is by donation.

Republican Spring Dinner Fulton County Republican Committee will hold its spring dinner Saturday, March 10, at 6 p.m., at Hustontown Firehall. Tickets are $15; children $7.50; and under 6 are free. Call Jackie Yates at 717-573-2571 or committee persons for tickets. Reserve tickets by March 5.

Pancake/Sausage Breakfast A pancake and sausage breakfast will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church, 7404 Lincoln Highway, Harrisonville, February 24, from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Made-from-scratch pancakes include plain, blueberry and buckwheat, scrambled eggs, puddin meat, orange juice, coffee and fruit. Cost is by donation. All are welcome.

Steak/Chicken Dinner A steak and chicken dinner will be held Saturday, March 31, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Pleasant Union Church, 259 Pleasant Union Church Road, Clearville. Served will be cubed steak, pulled pork, chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, applesauce, roll, soft freeze ice cream and cake. Donations only. Takeouts available.

Nutrition Class Fulton County nutrition awareness classes are held at Warfordsburg Senior Center on the third Monday of every month from 10:30 a.m. to noon. When the third Monday is a holiday, the class is held the fourth Monday. To register or sign up for lunch call 717-294-6020.

NAR-ANON Discontinued NAR-ANON family group has discontinued due to lack of interest. There continues to be a meeting in Greencastle.

Operation Save A Life Anyone concerned that a loved one is at risk for overdosing on heroin or a prescription pain medication, this training is for you February 13, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, at Warfordsburg Senior Center, 209 Long Hollow Road, Warfordsburg. Training participants will learn opioid types, how to recognize, respond to and prevent an opioid overdose, how to administer Intra-Nasal Naloxone (Narcan) to reverse an overdose. A free dose of Nasal NARCAN will be distributed at the conclusion of training. Registration is required for the training and spaces are limited. For more information call 717-485-6767 option 0.

Narcotics Anonymous Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meets two times per week in McConnellsburg. NA is a 12-step fellowship whose primary focus is “that no addict need die from the disease of addiction.” Members share their successes and challenges in overcoming addictive addiction by learning how to live drug-free lives through applying the principles contained within the twelve steps and traditions of NA. Anyone is welcome no matter what drug/drink was used, how much or little you have or how big or small desire is to change. There are members with long-term recovery to help. Meetings are Sunday and Thursday at 7 p.m. at Fulton County Medical Center (enter through the south entrance and take elevator to the second floor) in the Pearl Room. Saturday night is closed. Pesticide Meeting Pesticide recertification meeting will be held at McConnellsburg High School cafeteria February 22, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. This meeting will be for 2 CAT credits and 2 CORE credits. If school is canceled at McConnellsburg on this date the meeting will be canceled. There is no registration required or fee to attend. Any questions call the extension office at 717-325-4870

Historical Society Dinner/Meeting Fulton County Historical Society will hold its annual membership dinner and meeting at Hustontown Firehall March 31, at 6 p.m. Cooper Wingert will speak about slavery and the Underground Railroad in south-central Pennsylvania. Tickets are $15 for adults; $7.50 for children ages 4-11; and children under 4 are free. Reservations and payments must be received by March 23. Bigfoot Forum Does “the legend” live in Fulton County? Anyone have a story to tell? Join in Saturday, March 10, at 10 a.m., at the old Black Oak Mennonite Church, 2247 Stoneybreak Road, Warfordsburg, for a Bigfoot forum. It will be an open forum discussion with the Pennsylvania Bigfoot research team members. For more information call 717-294-3912.

Quilt Club Meeting Fulton County Quilt Club will meet Saturday, February 17, at 9 a.m., in the community room of Fulton County Library located on North First Street in Mc- Connellsburg. Following the business meeting the club will be piecing the block of the month “Talking Turkey” designed by Bonnie Hunter. For more information on fabric requirements call 814-259-3055. Anyone interested in quilting is invited to attend.

Sportsmen’s League Meeting Fulton County Sportsmen’s League will meet February 16, at 7 pm., in the stone house at the trout nursery. New officers and board members were elected during the December meeting and assumed their positions during the January meeting. Anyone wishing to have information published in the spring newsletter should attend this meeting. Members attending the Feburary meeting are asked to bring in a small item to be traded or raffled off at the conclusion of the meeting.
