Racing Roundup

By Brad Vores

We’ve made it into 2018 and race fans are counting the days until dirt flies around local race tracks.

Before the racing season kicks off, as always there will be several shows, including the big Motorsports show in Oaks, Pa., the final weekend in January and then the Racing Xtravaganza show at the York Fairgrounds February 3-4. RX will feature many race cars that will race on area tracks this season and will be the host of many special events during the two-day show. Visit www.racingxtravaganza.com for more information on this show.

Port Royal Speedway released what the track calls is most aggressive schedule ever for the 2018 that will feature 33 racing events across the eight months of action.

The 410 Sprints and Super Late Models again headline most of the shows this season at Port Royal that will see both the Lucas Oil Late Models and World of Outlaws Late Models in action at the track.

The Moon Shine Camo Route 35 Challenge for Super Late Models returns challenging the Late Models of Port Royal and Selinsgrove with six race dates on the series card, plus increased purses and point fund money and contingencies for the drivers.

Some of the big 410 Sprint shows will include two PA Speedweek events, several All-Star events, including the Keith Kauffman Classic and Tuscarora 50 and the big Weikert Memorial weekend to kick off summer.

Port Royal is slated to open Saturday, March 10, at 5 p.m., featuring the 410 Sprints and Super Late Models, paying $4,000 and $2,200 to win respectively.
