York County Gilt Reigns Supreme At 2018 PA Farm Show

Harrisburg, PA – Supreme Champion Bred Gilt was awarded to the Berkshire, bred and owned by Gregory Innerst of Innerst Berkshires from Red Lion, York Co., on Saturday, January 6, at the 102nd Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg.

Innerst’s gilt (a female pig that has not yet given birth) bested 124 other gilts in competition just prior to the opening of the Pennsylvania Far Show. Following the selection of the supreme champion, the bred gilts – representing the Berkshire, Chester White, Duroc, Hampshire, Landrace, Poland China, Spot, Yorkshire and Hereford/Tamworth breeds – were auctioned by longtime show volunteer Harry H. Bachman, Annville, Lebanon County.

Judge Howard Parrish from Edon, Ohio, complimented exhibitors on their high-quality animals in the show, noting the size and quality of the Pennsylvania Farm Show Bred Gilt Sale – one of the largest in the country.
