FOOD AND DINING

Pancake/Sausage Breakfast A pancake and sausage breakfast will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church January 20, from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Plain, blueberry and buckwheat pancakes, sausage, puddin, scrambled eggs, juice and coffee will be served. Donations are gratefully accepted.

Potpie Supper Needmore Bible Church’s Brazil Team will hold a slippery potpie supper Saturday, January 13, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the church. Proceeds will benefit youth missions trip.

Free Lunch Lunch will be served every first Friday of each month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at McConnellsburg United Methodist Faith and Life Center, across from the courthouse. Parking available behind the church. Soup, sandwiches, salad bar, potato bar and dessert bar are served. Dine-in or carryouts with donations accepted.

Free Meal A free meal will be served the second Tuesday of each month at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 North Third Street. Please join in for good fellowship.

RECREATION

Mic Night Mic Night will be held at Warfordsburg Senior Center January 13, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., weather permitting. Kitchen opens at 4 p.m. Food and drink will be available. Monetary donations are appreciated. Everyone is welcome. For more information call 717-294-6020.

Free Walking There will be free walking in the alumni community building beginning January 8 every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m If the Central Fulton School District is closed due to the weather the gym will not be open.

Adult Basketball Adult basketball will be held from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., every Tuesday night at the alumni community building. Questions, call Kathy Kendall at 717-377-3643.

Elks HOOP Shoot Chambersburg Elks Lodge 600 will host its annual hoop shoot in the alumni community building in McConnellsburg January 13, 2018, starting at 4 p.m. This contest is open to any child ages 8 thru 13. Scouts Accepting Members Troop 43, chartered by the

THIS & THAT United Presbyterian Church of McConnellsburg, is accepting boys age 11-17. Community Food Giveaway A community food giveaway will be held Saturday, January 13, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., or while supplies last, at Rehoboth New Life Church, 8159 Great Cove Road, Needmore, formerly Fulton County Community Christian School. All are welcome. No eligibility guidelines.

GSR Sponsorship The 2018 sponsorship program managed by the Grease Steam and Rust Association to fund the 2018 Fulton Fall Folk Festival October 19-21 and parade on October 20, opens January 9. GSR is asking for financial support to keep this event operating. Parenting Power Hour A Parenting Power Hour of learning exploring and relaxing together is held every Monday from 11 a.m. to noon at Fulton County Family Partnership, 22438 Great Cove Road (use COPE entrance). Open to any caregiver interested in improving parent/child relationships, self-awareness and communication with children all while interacting with other parents. 250 Club Drawing A 250 club drawing will be held March 27 at the American Legion. Sponsored by Fulton Honor Guard and Post 561 SAL. For tickets see an honor guard or SAL member or stop at the post or VFW post. Cost is $20 for two people.

Save The Date McConnellsburg Alumni and Friends Association will honor the third class of Fulton County All- Sports Hall of Fame April 6, 2018. Members to be inducted will be Don Fowler, Ralph Fraker, C. Owen Fries, John Glazier, Herb Hardin, Fran Mellott, Carole Palmer and Larry Palmer.

Veterans Service Office Winter Hours Instead of Wednesdays, the Fulton County Veterans Service Office will now be open Fridays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. This change will be effective beginning December 1, 2017, through March 30, 2018.

Preschool Story Hour Preschool story hour is held weekly through the school year at 10:30 a.m. Hustontown Branch Library hosts on Tuesdays; McConnellsburg library, Wednesdays; and southern Fulton County at Dott Store, Thursdays. Meals Available Once a month volunteers pack up boxes of food to be given to anyone in need in the Waterfall area. NAR-ANON Meeting The Nar-Anon Family Group is primarily for those who know or have known a feeling of desperation concerning the addiction problem of someone very near to you. We have travelled that unhappy road too, and found the answer with serenity and peace of mind. When you come into the family group you are no longer alone, but among true friends who understand your problem as few others could. Meetings have been moved from Thursday at 7 p.m. to Saturday at 7 p.m., at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 228 North Second Street, McConnellsburg. Autism Support Group Autism support group meets the last Tuesday of the month quarterly at 6 p.m. Call Lauren Everetts 717-485-6107 for details.

Alzheimer’s Support Group Do you have questions about caring for a loved one with dementia or Alzheimer’s? Visit the support group the third Tuesday of each month, at 6 p.m., at Fulton County Medical Center in the Pearl Room. Light supper is provided. Meetings are free. There is a speaker each month focusing on different subjects dealing with this illness. As we travel this journey together there is help here, with daily, weekly and monthly challenges for all stages.

Nutrition Class Fulton County nutrition awareness classes are held at Warfordsburg Senior Center on the third Monday of every month from 10:30 a.m. to noon. When the third Monday is a holiday, the class is held the fourth Monday. To register or sign up for lunch call 717-294-6020.

Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held every Monday morning at 11 a.m. (even holidays), at Fulton County Medical Center Community Health and Wellness building located at 294 Lincoln Way West and every Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the basement of McConnellsburg alumni building, 301 East Maple Street. Both are open meetings and anyone can attend.

Narcotics Anonymous Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meets three times per week in McConnellsburg. NA is a nonprofit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. Membership is open to all drug addicts, regardless of the particular drug or combination of drugs used including alcohol. Members share their successes and challenges in overcoming active addiction and living drug-free, productive lives through the application of the principles contained within the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of NA. Anyone is welcome no matter what was used or how big the desire to stop using is. Meetings are held Sunday and Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Fulton County Medical Center (follow the signs at the main entrance to the Pearl Room) and Saturday at 7 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 228 North Second Street, McConnellsburg. MEETINGS

Town Hall Meeting Sen. John H. Eichelberger Jr. will hold a town hall meeting Tuesday, January 16, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., in the lower level meeting room of Fulton County Library, 227 North First Street, McConnellsburg. For more information call 717-485-3616.

Historical Society Winter Meeting The winter meeting of Fulton County Historical Society will be held, weather permitting, Saturday, January 13, at 7 p.m., at Fulton County Courthouse. Guest speaker will be Larry Garlock, native of Bedford County. He is a Vietnam veteran, retired public school teacher and historian. He recently published a book about the evolution of the American flag. His presentation will be “The Historical Evolution of the American Flag” and will include 40 flags to demonstrate the evolution that has resulted in how the flag appears today.

Sportsmen’s League Meeting Fulton County Sportsmen’s League will meet at 7 p.m. in the stone house at the trout nursery January 19. New officers and board members were elected during the December meeting and will take their office and positions at this meeting. Board members only will meet one hour prior to the general meeting at 6 p.m.

Quilt Club Meeting Fulton County Quilt Club will meet Saturday, January 20, in the community room of Fulton County Library on North First Street at 10 a.m. Following the business meeting the block of the month which will be the pinwell will be made. This 12-inch block will be made using only 2 1/2-inch strips. Subcut background fabric into four 6 1/2-inch rectangles, four 4 1/2-inch rectangles and eight 2 1/2-inch squares. Subcut various prints into four 6 1/2-inch rectangles and four 4 1/2-inch rectangles. Anyone interesting in quilting is welcome to attend.

RELIGION

Guest Speaker Pastor Harold Yeager, St. Thomas, will be preaching at Knobsville Church of the Brethren January 21 for the 10:30 a.m. worship service. For more information call 717-987-3935.
