Lin Henry will host her annual Christmas Warm-up at Tickle Your Fancy for Small Business Saturday. Lin Henry will host her annual Christmas Warm-up at Tickle Your Fancy for Small Business Saturday. It’s that time of year again when people start planning three major things: cooking, eating, and shopping. Thanksgiving is the time Americans gather with friends and loved ones to share a meal and be truly thankful for all their blessings in life. Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, is all about taking that money we’re thankful for and spending it in copious amounts on severely discounted items in major marketing stores.

A newer, smaller, less frenzied kind of shopping event, however, that has only been around for roughly seven years, is Small Business Saturday. Small Business Saturday is an annual shopping tradition dedicated to supporting local businesses and celebrating community-based economic growth.

Here in Fulton County there are several small businesses providing the opportunity to shop local. Meat markets, well-ness/beauty boutiques, gift stores, and, of course, a local hunting store or two to keep the avid game hunters satisfied are just some of the shops that the community has to offer.

In hopes of helping the community grow, the following businesses will be holding something special on November 25.

Tickle Your Fancy, located at 110 Lincoln Way West, will be hosting its Christmas Warm-up from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The unique gift and tea shoppe, owned by longtime Fulton County resident Lin Henry, will be offering a food and tea pairing that features treats such as French farm jams, jellies, tapenade, spreads, and mustards along with a wide variety of teas, including chai, traditional black teas and flavorful autumn fruit teas such as “In a Pear Tee” or “Little Jack.”

Classic Edge Nail Studio, located at 786 Buchanan Trail, is also hosting a morning event from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. to celebrate both Small Business Saturday and its five-year anniversary. Owner Chrystal Shumate will be offering free paraffin wax spa treatments and virgin mimosas to all that come in to celebrate the event. While there, patrons will get a chance to purchase holiday gift cards, check out some new nail art designs, and plan their next glamour visit.

Tritle’s Meat Market, located at 107A Lincoln Way East, also welcomes the community to come in and get reacquainted with the store and its new owners, Gary and Kelly Tritle. Tritle’s offers a fresh and local meat selection, along with made-to-order subs, soups of the day, and bulk dry ingredients for those passionate about cooking, drying, or seasoning their own meats. The store will be open during its usual business hours of 8 a.m.to 6 p.m. A daily menu is also available on their Facebook page.

Buchanan Trail Sporters, located at 182 Buchanan Traill, is hosting a two-day shopping event that will start Friday morning on the 24th and go through Saturday. Sporters will be hosting a BBQ and blowout sale all day Friday. Owners Brad Wissinger and Sally Hoover invite the community to come in, grab some great food and take advantage of big discounts on all merchandise. The two-day sale will give shoppers plenty of time to take advantage of some great deals! The store will be open during its usual business hours of noon to 8 p.m.

MJ’s Natural Health and Body Chiropractic, owned by John Crouse, is located at 328 North 2nd St., McConnellsburg, and will be running a gift certificate special from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday. The gift certificate allows 50 percent off all services up to three per person on each gift certificate. There’s a catch though! Much like the golden ticket Charlie won to the Chocolate Factory, there is a very limited number of certificates available. Only 20 are available, and they will cover deep tissue massage, Thai yoga, hypnosis, and coaching services, with a savings falling anywhere between $17.50- $1,750!
