Gun Drawing A 225 gun drawing will be held Saturday, November 18, at Needmore Fire Co. Doors open at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m. Dance to follow. Tickets are $30 for ticket holder and guest. Must be 18 years of age to attend. No carry outs permitted. To purchase tickets contact any fire company member.

Adult Basketball Adult basketball will be held from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., every Tuesday night at the alumni community building. Questions, call Kathy Kendall at 717-377-3643

Open Mic Hancock Open Mic will be held Friday, November 17, at 6 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. at the community center on High Street in Hancock. Sponsored by Hancock Arts Council.

Rock Painting Class A rock painting class will be held Tuesday, November 21, at Forbes Road High School cafeteria. Two classes at 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m, with Lisa Black and Deb Oliver. Cost is $15 at the door. Proceeds benefit Forgbes Road Drama Club. Students attending with a paying adult will receive the rock for $3.

Book Signing Author and historian Steve French will be at Berkeley Springs Books, 15 N. Washington Street, Berkeley Springs, Sunday, November 19, signing copies of his new book “Phantoms of the South Fork: Captain McNeill and His Rangers.” The just-released Kent State University Press hardback includes tales of rebel guerrilla activity in Fulton County during the Gettysburg Campaign and McCusland’s July 30-31, 1864 raid on McConnellsburg. Elks HOOP Shoot Chambersburg Elks Lodge 600 will host its annual hoop shoot in the alumni community building in McConnellsburg January 13, 2018, starting at 4 p.m. This contest is open to any child between the ages of 8 thru 13. Dodgeball Tournament To help the museums the Mc- Connellsburg Alumni and Friends Association will hold its annual dodgeball tournament for all ages in the alumni community gym Saturday, November 25. Registration will be from noon to 12:45 p.m., with dodgeball starting at 1 p.m. Any questions call 717-377-3643.

X Card Shoots X card shoots will be held at Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club every Friday thru November 17. Kitchen opens at 5:30 p.m. and shoot starts at 7 p.m. All are welcome.


Pie Sale Family Life Committee of St. Stephen Church is sponsoring a Grandma Ann’s Thanksgiving apple and cherry pie sale Saturday, November 18. Cost of pies is $9 for plain and $10 for crumb. Pies may be picked up after 9 a.m., Saturday, November 18, at the church social hall. To place an order call 717-485-5917.

Thanksgiving Dinner Thanksgiving dinner will be held at Needmore Bible Church Thursday, November 23, at noon. This is a free event open to the public.

Thanksgiving Meal A free community Thanksgiving meal will be held Saturday, November 18, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at Warfordsburg Presbyterian Church Faith Center. Dine-in only.

Community Thanksgiving Dinner A free turkey dinner with all the trimmings will be served Thursday, November 23, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at McConnellsburg United Methodist Church on the square. All are welcome. Please call 717-485-4815 with a count if attending. Delivery for shut-ins is also available. Call to arrange for delivery.

Free Meal A free meal will be served the second Tuesday of each month at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 North Third Street. Please join in for good fellowship.


NAR-ANON Meeting The Nar-Anon Family Group is primarily for those who know or have known a feeling of desperation concerning the addiction problem of someone very near to you. We have travelled that unhappy road too, and found the answer with serenity and peace of mind. When you come into the family group you are no longer alone, but among true friends who understand your problem as few others could. Meetings have been moved from Thursday at 7 p.m. to Saturday at 7 p.m., at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 228 North Second Street, McConnellsburg. Nutrition Class Fulton County nutrition awareness classes are held at Warfordsburg Senior Center on the third Monday of every month from 10:30 a.m. to noon. When the third Monday is a holiday, the class is held the fourth Monday. To register or sign up for lunch call 717-294-6020.

Autism Support Group Autism support group meets the last Tuesday of the month quarterly at 6 p.m. Call Lauren Everetts 717-485-6107 for details.

Alzheimer’s Support Group Do you have questions about caring for a loved one with dementia or Alzheimer’s? Visit the support group the third Tuesday of each month, at 6 p.m., at Fulton County Medical Center in the Pearl Room. Light supper is provided. Meetings are free. There is a speaker each month focusing on different subjects dealing with this illness. As we travel this journey together there is help here, with daily, weekly and monthly challenges for all stages.

Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held every Monday morning at 11 a.m. (even holidays) in the Pearl Room, second floor of Fulton County Medical Center, and every Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the basement of Mc- Connellsburg Alumni Building, located at 301 East Maple Street. Both are open meetings that anyone can attend.

Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime will be held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Wednesday and Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Fulton County Medical Center cardiopulmonary rehab gym. The cost is based on insurance. Call 717-485-6149 to see if insurance provider is accepted. Community Wellness is $40/month/person or $70/month/couple.

Narcotics Anonymous Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meets three times per week in McConnellsburg. NA is a nonprofit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. Membership is open to all drug addicts, regardless of the particular drug or combination of drugs used including alcohol. Members share their successes and challenges in overcoming active addiction and living drug-free, productive lives through the application of the principles contained within the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of NA. Anyone is welcome no matter what was used or how big the desire to stop using is. Meetings are held Sunday and Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Fulton County Medical Center (follow the signs at the main entrance to the Pearl Room) and Saturday at 7 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 228 North Second Street, McConnellsburg. Christmas Gift Sign-up Fulton County Catholic Mission is accepting applications for its annual Christmas gift program for those in need. To sign up call 485-5917.

Technology Presentation An education technology and keeping students safe presentation will be held November 16, at 6 p.m., in McConnellsburg High School auditorium. Open to the public. The event is managed by Boy Scout Troop 28 and offers supervision for younger children to view a movie during the presentation. The presentation covers topics, such as new sexting laws and consequences, legal involvement in bullying, two-factor authentication, etc. The presentation is gauged to be about 45 minutes.

Community Food Giveaway A community food giveaway will be held Saturday, November 18, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., or while supplies last, at Rehoboth New Life Church, 8264 Great Cove Road, Needmore. All are welcome. No eligibility guidelines.

Master Gardener Workshop Penn State Master Gardeners of Fulton County invite all to participate in a holiday workshop at Penn State Extension Office, 610 East North Street, McConnellsburg. Workshop will be conducted Saturday, December 9, at 9 a.m. to noon and a second offering from 1 p.m. to 3p.m. Must have at least five registrations to run either workshop – fresh holiday centerpiece workshop. Scouts Accepting Members Troop 43, chartered by the United Presbyterian Church of McConnellsburg, is accepting boys age 11-17. Parenting Power Hour A Parenting Power Hour of learning exploring and relaxing together is held every Monday from 11 a.m. to noon at Fulton County Family Partnership, 22438 Great Cove Road (use COPE entrance). Open to any caregiver interested in improving parent/child relationships, self-awareness and communication with children all while interacting with other parents. Operation Christmas Child Once again Calvary Independent Baptist Church in McConnellsburg is pleased to be the drop-off location for Operation Christmas Child located at 140 McGoverns Lane. Shoeboxes can be dropped off beginning November 13. Drop-off schedule will be November 13-17: 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; November 18: 9 am to 5 p.m.; November 19: 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.; November 20: 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Other times by appointment.

Save The Date McConnellsburg Alumni and Friends Association will honor the third class of Fulton County All- Sports Hall of Fame April 6, 2018. Members to be inducted will be Don Fowler, Ralph Fraker, C. Owen Fries, John Glazier, Herb Hardin, Fran Mellott, Carole Palmer and Larry Palmer.

Festival Of Lights Looking For Help The Festival of Lights committee is looking for help with the live nativity. Any organization or church who would be interested in helping to do part of the exhibit or all of it, please let them know. Also still looking for more light displays. 55-Alive Smart Driving Class Warfordsburg Senior Center will offer a one- day renewal only class for the 55- Alive/Smart driving discount program November 16. The class is from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required either in person or by calling the center. Checks are made payable to AARP for $20 per person non-member or $15 pre person AARP member. The center is located at 209 Long Hollow Road, Warfordsburg. If planning to have lunch make reservations for lunch when registering. Classes are designed to help improve driving skills. There are no tests involved. Meals Available Once a month volunteers pack up boxes of food to be given to anyone in need in the Waterfall area. Pickup is at Center United Methodist Church community building on Doran Road, Waterfall. More information may be obtained by calling 814-685-3780. Calls will be kept strictly confidential.


Christmas Play “Christmas At The Lodge,” a play by Jeanne Ward, featuring Hancock Arts Council Players, will be held at Hancock Performing Arts Center. Show times are Saturday, November 25, at 8 p.m., and Sunday, November 26, at 2 p.m. Free with donations appreciated. Lots of good, old Christmas songs to sing along to.

Thanksgiving Service A community-wide Thanksgiving service will be held November 19, at 7 p.m., at Wells Valley Presbyterian Church, 799 West Tannery Road, Wells Tannery. All are welcome. As all count their blessiings this Thanksgiving, please bring a canned good to share with the Fulton County Food Basket.


Community Meeting It is the desire of a few members in the community to start a Christian school in the area whose primary purpose is to provide a Bible-based education for children. As a result of that desire a community meeting will be held at Fulton County Library November 16, at 7 p.m. At these meetings goals are to assess the desire of the community to have a Christian school in the area; form a committee to address the setup and operational needs of the school; discuss possible school locations; plan future meetings; and obtain information on prospective students. Quilt Club Meeting Fulton County Quilt Club will meet Saturday, November 18, at 10 a.m., in the community room of Fulton County Library located on North First Street, Mc- Connellsburg. The BOM for November is called the slipknot. It’s a pretty block that appears to be interwoven. The techniques practiced are a square in a square, a flying geese unit and a way of making multiple half-square triangle blocks. Needed are three fabrics for this book: background - lightest; focus fabric - darkest; and coordinating fabric - medium. Fabric 1: four rectangles 2”x3 1/2”; four rectangles 2”x5”; two 5” squares; fabric 2: one square at 4 1/4”; three 5” squares; fabric 3: four 2” squares; four rectangles 2”x3 1/2”; one 5” square and one square cut at 2 5/8”. Anyone interested in quilting is welcome to attend.

Sportsmen’s League Meeting Fulton County Sportsmen’s League will meet at 7 p.m., in the stone house at the trout nursery November 17. The league meets the third Friday of each month except July and August. Mark calendar and attend each meeting to share input on decisions affecting the organization. Officers and board members for 2018 will be nominated. The drawing for the fall raffle will be held at the conclusion of the meeting.


Bingo Bingo will be held November 26 at Needmore Firehall. Doors open at noon and games at 2 p.m. Six-pack of games for $25 with exception of early bird quickie additional $1. Extras are available for purchase. Kitchen will be open.
