HAFCO FFFF Activities Fulton Fall Folk Festival activities at Hustontown Fire Co. are as follows: roast beef dinner Friday, October 20; slippery potpie on Saturday, October 21; open stage Saturday, October 21; and all-you-can-eat buffet Sunday, October 22.

UMC Festival Activities McConnellsburg United Methodist Church will be serving chicken corn soup, sandwiches, desserts and drinks on Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday will be scrambled eggs, pancakes, sausage and drinks from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.; and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. will be soup, sandwiches, desserts and drinks at the Faith and Life Center.

FFFF Elmo At Community Building Elmo will be at the alumni community building Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Come, visit and take pictures with Elmo. Also the alumni kitchen will be open all weekend offering lots of specials. Available for will be homemade biscuits, chip beef gravy, homefries, egg sandwiches, chicken noodle soup, beef stew, hot pork sandwiches, macaroni and cheese, hamburgers, hot dogs as well as apple dumplings, pies, cookies, foccohi, homemade bread, buckeys and fudge.

Museums Open The Fulton County All Sports Museum and McConnellsburg/Green Hill museum will be open Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday right after the parade until 5 p.m.; and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Food Sale Fulton County Medical Center Auxiliary will hold a soup, baked goods and craft sale Friday, October 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Use long-term care entrance. Available will be chicken corn soup, vegetable beef, ham and bean soup, steamers, hot dogs and lots of baked goods.

Barn Quilt Photo Contest The Frontier Barn Quilt Trail will display entries from the barn quilt photo contest. Photos will be displayed at this year’s Fulton Fall Folk Festival Art Show held in the county library, 227 N. First St., Mc- Connellsburg. The art show is open Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.,and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.

Winegardner One-Room School History buffs will once again be able to enjoy the restored Winegardner one-room school at the northern end of the county. Hours will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Directions from McConnellsburg: Rte. 522 north to Rte. 475 (Waterfall Rd.) turn left to Hustontown, turn right on Clear Ridge Rd., follow Clear Ridge Rd. approx three miles, turn left on South Madden Rd. School is approx four miles on right.

Food Basket Anniversary Fulton County Food Basket’s 35th anniversary will include a hot dog and beard contest October 21 at 2 p.m. Registration fee is $10. First-place prize is $100; second- and third-place prizes will be $25 gift cards. A raffle will be held for ladies for a Vera Bradley bag. Yard sale and vendor spaces available Friday and Saturday for $30. Reservations accepted until October 19. For more information call 717-485-5688.

Chili Fest Once again the chili fest will be at 123 South Second Street October 21 with all kinds of chili for a “buck a cup.” Featured are venison to vegetarian, mild to spicy hot. Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or until gone. Watch for signs. The chili fest is a project of the Fulton and Friends Democratic Clb.

FFA Festival Activities McConnellsburg FFA will host fun activities for kids Friday and Saturday, October 19 and 20, during the Fulton Fall Folk Festival. They will be set up across from the firehall from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Activities will include a petting zoo, straw maze, pumpkin decorating, train rides and other fun activities. Drinks, baked goods and other foods will be available.

Benefit Breakfast A benefit breakfast will be held at Needmore Bible Church for the Brazil team, Saturday, October 21, from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Served will be scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage gravy and biscuits, sausage and ham, regular, blueberry, chocolate chip and buckwheat pancakes, coffee, juice and milk. Barn Quilt Tours Fulton County Barn Quilt Committee will sponsor tours of barn quilts in the county during Fulton Fall Folk Festival on Friday, October 20. The northern route will leave at 8:30 a.m. from Giant parking lot. The southern route will leave from Giant at 1 p.m. Cost is $20 for one or $35 for those who want to do both tours. Vendors Needed Akersville Fall Festival will be held October 19, 20 and 21, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with 49 spaces of crafters, vendors, food, live music, apple butter and cider, antiques, cars, tractors, kids’ activities and much more. Halloween Pipes Spooktacular A Halloween pipes spooktacular free concert will be held Friday, October 27, at 7:30 p.m., at Mercersburg Academy Chapel. Featured will be area organists and friends with special guests Moriah O’Brian, soprano, and David Smith, storyteller. Costumes welcome and trick-or-treats for kids.

Gun Drawing A 225 gun drawing will be held Saturday, November 18 at Needmore Fire Co. Doors open at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m. Dance to follow. Tickets are $30 for ticket holder and guest. Must be 18 yars of age to attend. No carry-outs permitted. To purchase tickets contact any fire company member.

Dodgeball Tournament To help the museums the Mc- Connellsburg Alumni and Friends Association will hold its annual dodgeball tournament for all ages in the alumni community gym Saturday, November 25. Registration will be from noon to 12:45 p.m., with dodgeball starting at 1 p.m. Any questions call 717-377-3643.

Senior Social Night Warfordsburg Senior Center will host its last social of the year Saturday, October 28, with entertainment by the “Alligators.” Seniors 60 and older come and enjoy an evening of entertainment. Pancake Supper Whips Cove Church will hold a pancake dinner November 11 at 5 p.m. Menu will be buttermilk and old-fashioned buckwheat pancakes, ham, sausage links and sausage gravy and puddin, fried and scrambled eggs, hot chocolate and orange juice. Republican Fall Dinner The Fulton County Republican Committee will hold a fall dinner Saturday, October 28, at 6 p.m., at Hustontown Firehall. NAR-ANON Meeting The Nar-Anon Family Group is primarily for those who know or have known a feeling of desperation concerning the addiction problem of someone very near to you. We have travelled that unhappy road too, and found the answer with serenity and peace of mind. When you come into the family group you are no longer alone, but among true friends who understand your problem as few others could. Nutrition Class Fulton County nutrition awareness classes are held at Warfordsburg Senior Center on the third Monday of every month from 10:30 a.m. to noon. When the third Monday is a holiday, the class is held the fourth Monday. To register or sign up for lunch call 717-294-6020.

Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held every Monday morning at 11 a.m. (even holidays) in the Pearl Room, second floor of Fulton County Medical Center, and every Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the basement of Mc- Connellsburg Alumni Building, located at 301 East Maple Street. Both are open meetings that anyone can attend.

Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime will be held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Wednesday and Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Fulton County Medical Center cardiopulmonary rehab gym. Narcotics Anonymous Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meets three times per week in McConnellsburg. NA is a nonprofit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. Membership is open to all drug addicts, regardless of the particular drug or combination of drugs used including alcohol. Members share their successes and challenges in overcoming active addiction and living drug-free, productive lives through the application of the principles contained within the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of NA. Anyone is welcome no matter what was used or how big the desire to stop using is. Meetings are held Sunday and Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Fulton County Medical Center (follow the signs at the main entrance to the Pearl Room) and Saturday at 7 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 228 North Second Street, McConnellsburg. Operation Christmas Child Once again Calvary Independent Baptist Church in McConnellsburg is pleased to be the dropoff location for Operation Christmas Child located at 140 McGoverns Lane. Shoe boxes can be dropped off beginning November 13. Dropoff schedule will be November 13-17: 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; November 18: 9 am to 5 p.m.; November 19: 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.; November 20: 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Other times by appointment.

Military Honor Roll Dedication Forbes Road Lions Club has completed and installed a Military Honor Roll at Forbes Road High School that recognizes Hustontown/Forbes Road students who served in the United States Military. A dedication service will be held in the high school auditorium on November 9, 2017 in conjunction with Forbes Road School District’s annual observance of Veterans Day. All veterans, parents and the public are invited to attend the ceremony. 55-Alive Smart Driving Class Warfordsburg Senior Center will offer a one- day renewal only class for the 55- Alive/Smart driving discount program November 16. The class is from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Anyone who has never taken the class then the 2-day class is required which will be held November 1 and 2 from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required either in person or by calling the center. Checks are made payable to AARP for $20 per person nonmember or $15 pre person AARP member. The center is located at 209 Long Hollow Road, Warfordsburg. If planning to have lunch make reservations for lunch when registering. Classes are designed to help improve driving skills. There are no tests involved. Meals Available Once a month volunteers pack up boxes of food to be given to anyone in need in the Waterfall area.
