Grant J. Souders

McConnellsburg, 88

Grant J. “Toot” Souders, 88, McConnellsburg, died Sunday, September 3, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born April 27, 1929, in Cito, Pa., the son of the late Frank F. and the late Clara Hazel (Seville) Souders. He married Evelyn Hill on May 17, 1949, in Hagerstown.

He worked at Grove Manufacturing for 34 years until his retirement. While he worked at Grove, he also enjoyed farming and raising beef cattle at the family homestead. He enjoyed spending his free time tending to his garden, playing music, baking and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Evelyn Souders, McConnellsburg; four daughters: Lilli Wilson, Hagerstown; Sue Barnett, McConnellsburg; Vicki Bookheimer, McConnellsburg; Stacy Truax, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and three sons: Gregg Souders, McConnellsburg; Scott Souders, McConnellsburg; and Todd Souders, McConnellsburg; 25 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; four siblings: James Souders, McConnellsburg; Sis McQuade, McConnellsburg; Judy Speer, McConnellsburg, and Deb Souders of McConnellsburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Rebecca Souders; two grandsons: Michael and Eli Bookheimer; and six siblings: Harvey, Jack, John and Rodger Souders, Beverly Feagley and Cindy Starr.

An evening of visitation will be held Wednesday, September 6, from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m., at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home in McConnellsburg. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, September 7, at Cito United Methodist Church, Mc- Connellsburg. Burial will be in Union Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fulton County Medical Center Foundation, 214 Peach Orchard Rd., Mc- Connellsburg, PA 17233.
