Fulton Co. Jobless Rate Just 4.9 Percent

Fulton County’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for July dropped to just 4.9 percent, its lowest in nearly a decade.

The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry’s historical data shows the county’s adjusted rate was last less than 5 percent in December 2006.

Fulton County’s rate during the Great Recession topped out at 14.6 percent in February 2009 and July 2009.

Some 4,800 people in the county were working in non-farm jobs in July, the labor department data shows.

Franklin County posted a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 4.6 percent in July, the same rate as in June.

Fulton County ranked 26thlowest unemployment rate while Franklin County ranked 22nd among Pennsylvania’s 67 counties.

Pennsylvania’s seasonally adjusted jobless rate was 5 percent while the national rate dropped 0.1 percent to 4.3 percent.
